Horsethroat assassins

Before the time of the dinosaurs a hooded creature stalked the earth. The lone being cowered in caves, shovelling masses of tiny insects into its mouth to nourish its weak and tangled body. All excess food went into a murky pool that bubbled with delight at the feast.

The dinosaurs were destroyed by an asteroid and cosmic winter engulfed the earth. Still this loner struggled on, the daily torment for food and collecting enough excess for his watery companion. Humans evolved from rodents, rustling through the ground and the lone creature discovers a taste for them. Many centuries fly past and many advanced apes are pruned off the human race by this strange, dark force.

The landscape distorted by modern buildings and the hooded creature is in a desolated shack, his misty black pool now in a bath. Killing farmers, slaughtering wildstock increasingly more as, from the black bath thousands of them will arise and unite and look for lunch.

Can humanity survive?
