Aeronca 7AC Champion
and Aeronca 11AC
Interior Restoration Details
These next web pages are for those who wish to learn more about Aeronca Aircraft, especially the post-war production from 1945 to 1951. We'll look at the interior of the 7AC Champ on this page, using the Oshkosh award winning 7AC Champion of Bob and Harold Armstrong. It has the best researched interior of any Champion around, so you are looking at a Champ that is as close to one just coming off the assembly line in 1946 as possible. The side panels and doors are flocked... you can look in the Yellow pages in a large city and still find people who do this under "Flocking"

When restoring an Aeronca you need to think in terms of browns, tans and taupe. The instrument panel is brown crinkle paint, which you can get in spraycan form from Kennedy ToolBox Company. Study the photos for more details. I don't believe that the gust lock is stock, but it's a great idea. You also need to know that if you an instrument panel that has a winged Aeronca logo on it, that is no guarentee you have stock instruments, since many rebuilders put new faces on the instruments.

I would strongly suggest that you belong to as many type clubs for the Aeronca as possible... The National Aeronca Association for history, the Aeronca Aviators Club for restoration, repair and maintenace issues, the Aeronca Lovers Club out of Clark, South Dakota for parts and news. You are also invited to join our Aeronca Email
list at [email protected].... we have been around since 1996 and it's a great group of folks.
