11AC Ads... with a Scout and 7AC ad and a 11CC ad.. from 1945-1947
By mid-summer of 1947 Aeronca's Hook Field in Middletown, Ohio was filled with unsold Aeronca Chiefs and Champs. Clearly the two place market was overloaded with Cubs, Taylorcrafts, Aeroncas, Funks and every other sort of airplane. Designers were hard at work at the 4 place Sedan 15AC project, but meanwhile there had to be something done with the Chief. Aeronca tried two ways... a cheaper stripped down version called the Scout and a more powerful 11CC model. This ad for the 11CC is great if you are trying to paint your wheel pants... it is almost an exact side view. Note that the nose of the wing is lower than the 1/2" stripe in the "wing" trim scheme. Now, if you could only take $3,000 back to 1947 and pick up one off the
field....

Aeronca Chief with Tricycle landing gear? In Wisconsin?

it was published in September of 1946, so it must have been done in
July of 1946 or so. Very interesting!
