| Capsule Review: Mike Douglas and Al Brooks star in a remake of a 1979 movie about a CIA operative and neurotic doctor who will be in-laws by week's end. In one of the many plot turns that make no sense, Brooks' character is forced to go along on one of Douglas' missions right before the wedding, a scenario that produces a lot of very funny moments. Douglas' character is definitely very interesting, a suave spy who has the right balance of confidence, luck and ingenuity to come out of dangerous missions unscathed. He's kind of like James Bond, only instead of courting beautiful women, he courts in-laws and tries his best to `juggle' fatherly duties, something which kids with neglective parents can relate to. The rest of the cast is a mix of people I grew fond of, like Douglas' eager protg Angela (Robyn Tunney), and people who didn't add anything to the film at all, like Candice Bergen as Douglas' predictable husband hating, therapy-seeking ex-wife. |
