| For starters, I'm not sure how much I was supposed to enjoy this movie, since I'm not a kid and that's who the movies were meant for. There are cartoons which adults can enjoy as well, but I don't think this is one. The film starts off slow, the dialogue is so predictable that you start to wonder if the Native American/Pacific Northwest theme this is just some excuse for Disney to use the same formula in a different place. However, the story itself of a boy transformed into a bear, forming an unexpected bond and finding a new purpose in life, was pretty original and theme-appropriate tying another of the movie's otherwise disparate elements. Another boost for the movie was the introduction of Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas as comic relief. One thing that didn't work was, in their tradition of trying to emulate those Disney musicals of the mid-90s, adding random Phil Collins' songs in, which struck me as pretty out of place. | |||||
