Threaded Discussion #3 I believe that the Patriot Act is a blessing from God because it plays a key role in stopping terrorism in our country which leads to peoples� lives being safe from harm. Now people argue that it is not right to spy on, arrest or send a person to jail that the government is suspicious of. People maybe you think it, but the government is not stupid! They aren�t just going to go find an Arabian on the streets, tap his phone line, and later arrest him because they claimed that he looked like a terrorist. Whatever the government can do, to keep the country safe from harm, I�m all for it. For all you people that say it is not right to be suspicious of terrorists, you can thank the bombers of 9/11 for the United States being over cautious of terrorists. Mr. Haskell said it in a way and we all know it, the human wants to do bad over good more times than not and the Patriot Act counters the human�s badness to a point. The Magna Carta is the exact opposite of the Patriot Act, limiting the powers of the king. The Magna Carta�s importance I believe is a lot different from the world we live in today than the world that the people lived in while King John ruled. The Magna Carta served more purpose when King John ruled while the Patriot Act serves more purpose in today�s world and most likely we�ll have another act that will serve more purpose than both the Magna Carta and Patriot Act in the future. In human nature the saying opposites attract is always being heard everywhere and I believe the Magna Carta and the Patriot Act are opposites that have come together and helped the United States in every day life. I think as technology improves the Patriot Act will continually get better and terrorism will go down which will help mankind in the long run.
