What are the two root words in the Protestant Reformation? How might these apply to the church in the 1500s?

Pro/protest- supportive of something
Reform- alter or changing something

The two root words that are in Protestant Reformation are Pro which means that a person is supportive of something and reform which means to change or alter something that goes is going. These two root words apply to the church in the 1500s for many reasons. The root pro or protest meaning being supportive of something has to do with the church in the 1500s because there were people in the 1500s that went against the church because the church was making money off of indulgences and because the church was corrupt. The root reform has to do with the 1500s because of people like Martin Luther who kept the reformation going with the 95 Theses and had Lutheranism spread throughout Italy and Germany and other countries.
