* Journal Entry- How did Italy's location benefit Roman power? The reason why Italy�s location benefited Roman power was that Italy was not broken into small isolated valleys. Remember Greece had many valleys in which often divided city-states. Unlike Greece who had rugged mountains Italy had the benefit of having the Apennine Mountains run right down the middle of the Italian peninsula. The last benefit was that fertile plains that Italy presented which supported a population that was rapidly growing.
