| *Journal Entry- Please explain what led to the The Glorious of Revolution of Britain in 1688. Also, share specifically how this impacts democracy in Britain as well as the western world. The event that led to the Glorious Revolution of Britain was when William and Mary landed with their army late in 1688. James II then fled to France. The overthrow of the king without fighting became known as the Glorious Revolution. Williams and Mary couldnt just be crowned because of their acts because they had to accept several acts passed by Parliament. Those acts passed by Parliament became known as the English Bill Of Rights. The Glorious Revolution impacts democracy in Britain as well as the Western world because it was the start of taking away powers from the monarch and making the monarch follow rules. The Bill of Rights made Britain become a limited monarchy which would eventually become a democracy as the powers of the monarch decrease and the peoples power increase. |
