The Story
No Supercools were hurt in the creation of 'The Story', but Joe's electricity did go out about half a dozen times.
Okay, many of you won't belive this. Mostly because nobody visits the site anymore due to my slacking off and not updating it in forever. But if you do wander here through some phantasmal force, know this: JOE FAUST HAS FINISHED THE STORY!!! Truthfully? He had it finished on Halloween and kept it a secret to give to me as a Christmas gift. *sniff* How sweet. See below for what updates I can give you from this wonderful knowledge.
Also, please note that this page, 'The Story', and all related materials contain characters that are under Marvel Comics copywrite. No money is being made for either of these things. It's just for fun.
History of 'The Story'
Supercool Soundtrack I
I'll go ahead and let Joe himself tell you about how 'The Story' came to pass:
"So here's the deal: About a year ago, I wrote a silly
little short story wherein Charles Hopkins, Kyle
Reeser, and I jaunt off into the Marvel Universe, and
live out all the ridiculous little fantasies that
comic book readers have. I presented the story(later
titled "The Story") to Chuck as a sort-of birthday
present, and that was the end of it.
Except, it wasn't anywhere close to the end of it.
I wrote a little bit more of "The Story," and then a
little more, and now, that short story has become a
novel. I've tried several times in the past to cut
all ties with the story, and just be done with it, but
something has always pulled me back in."-Joe Faust
If you'd like to get more information on the Story itself, Joe says you can mail him....Joe Faust

Now how do 3 normal (as compared to superheroes) youths survive battling villains in the Marvel World? The answer lies within the Marvel Universe itself.
Joe, knowing more about the Marvel Universe than anyone, has collected various equipment off of other villains and heroes. Using all of his taken items to the best of his ability, he has become The Scavenger (yeah!).
Chuck (myself), being of noble virtue, took an anti-matter bomb and shoved it into a Negative Zone portal in the Four Freedoms Plaza right before it exploded. The explosion blew my hands off (supposedly), but the unusal side-effect was that my hands were replaced by pure Negative Zone itself, giving me powers that would grow as the Negative Zone slowly consumed more of my body and turning me into Mr. Negativity.
Kyle, through some unknown reason, was continuously subjected to various entities and items that granted nigh-omnipotent abilities. And after losing each one, he retained a small fraction of those abilities which formed themselves into the ability to remove the superhuman abilities of others and living up to his name of No Powers Boy.
So at least half a year ago, I get an E-mail from Joe saying "The Story will never end (our own Never-Ending Story). While sick and walking around a few miles at 1am, Joe came upon the idea of Spin-Offs to The Story. Much like with the recent Captain Marvel being spawned from the Avengers Forever series. Originally, it began as 7 Spin-Offs, Joe would give two to me, two to Kyle, and keep three for himself, and we'd write them and have fun and rock. The key thing to remember is that Chapter 50, Kyle, Joe, and I get home. So they don't really star us at all. Back to the Top
Anyway, with as much as I talk about The Story, I mentioned it to Tony Goodwyn who showed small signs of interest of writing one. Then Joe, Kyle, and I would each have an even two, and Tony could write one as well (after all, he was in one chapter, he deservs it). Then Ben VanSickle, a coworker of mine and comic fan said he thought it'd be kind of cool, and I figured "Hey, we have some to spare." Add in Andrew Jones, and Naomi Mayo's boyfriend (and now fiance), Chad...and we have one Spin-Off for everybody.
Joe wrote the #1 double-sized issue for each Spin-Off and when The Story is complete, he's going to mail them off to everyone and let people decide what they will write. Then, thanks to Andrew, the comics will be published on-line, on Wednesdays, just like normal comics. I'm hoping all #1's can be on-line and ready to go on March 29. Then April 5 will bring Supercools #2 out. After that, the next 3 weeks should provide with 2 comics each week. Seven different writing styles from seven brilliant and twisted minds. As soon as I know what the web address will be, it'll be posted for everyone to visit. It should rock.
Since it has been finished now, I can reveal the 7 Spin-Offs:
1)Supercools-featuring Lollipops, Rainbows, the Rock, and Dreamboat Annie picking up the dream that the original Supercools left behind
2)Trigger Happy Jack-The son of Talula Baird gets revealed in all his glory and his own adventures
3)Freedom Factor-Led by the Terrifying Mitch, this vagabond group has several villains created by The Story in its recruitment for a wide variety of stories possible
4)Scavenger 2099-In the far future, a long-forgotten exhibit is rediscovered bringing forth Mr. Positivity, The Powered Boy, and Supercool-Funball Guy
5)Salvation's Army-Goodwill leads her own army in a war-torn future for the salvation of man and mutant kind alike
6)Man in Limbo-The mysterious Man traverses from reality to reality putting right what once went wrong....but much cooler than Scott Bakula ever could
7)Colin: The Lost Supercool-Starting off where The Story began, we see things in the point of view from the Supercool who was always forgotten about
Okay, back in March of 1999, Joe, Kyle, and I took a road trip to various cities. As part of the entertainment value, Joe had created the Supercool Soundtrack to listen to in our long journey of three days. Here's the songs, the artists, and the reason why the song made it onto the album:
Build Me Up Buttercup (Goops)-Knowing how much I loved the song, Joe put it into the story. Then it appeared again. And again. And again. So basically, this song is the strongest candidate for the soundtrack. Back to the Top
We Built This City on Rock and Roll (Starship)-The teamname of "Supercools" comes from the third stanza in this song. Although it won't be until later that we realize the term "Supercools" never actually appears in the song. But that's all right.
The Scavenger (Dick Dale & the Deltones)-This one's a no-brainer. I bought Joe this CD for '98 Christmas because of the Scavenger song.
Some Guys Have All the Luck (Robert Palmer)-This one's my anthem.
God (Tori Amos)-Kyle's anthem to go with his repeated godlike abilities.
If I Could Turn Back Time (Cher)-Rina aka Timeslip's theme. Our first "real comic" member of the team.
Bit Part (Lemonheads)-Harrry aka Milo aka Haywire's theme. And it holds true that he's just a bit part.
Cold Hearted Snake (Paula Abdul)-Elyk aka the Skrull Formerly Known As Kyle's theme. Cold hearted snake is just a great description of the Skrulls.
Somebody to Love (Jefferson Airplane)-Our stolen Skrull spaceship, Joe dubs it 'the Jefferson Starship'.
X-Men Theme Song (H. Saban & S. Levy)-Both Kyle and myself are full fledged members of the X-men.
Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows (Leslie Gore)-Believe it or not, these three are our arch-enemies. They were basically created for the sole purpose of being able to have this song on the tape.
Electric Youth (Debbie Gibson)-Ummm, I have no idea how to explain how it occurrs, but a kidnapped, semi-stand in for the deceased Bevatron takes on the codename Electric Youth and helps us out later.
Talula (Tori Amos)-Plump woman who not only inadvertantly helped Kyle defeat Princess Python, but who also owns the Boarding House in the Marvel Universe where Joe's house is in current continuity.
Holding Out for a Hero (Bonnie Tyler)-Just a general song about heroes and descriptions that come in groups of three. This is the song used for the music video.
Go West (Village People)-Joe claims he listens to it on our trip out to Denver, but I can't find it anywhere. In any case, we have gone west on our Supercool trips.
Constantinople (They Might Be Giants)-"They Might be Giants" is the name of Chapter 36 in which a sixty foot Kyle gets to fight a sixty foot dragon.
Paradise by the Dashboard Light (Meatloaf)-Joe is on his way to Paradise Island in the Pogo Plane, accompanied by the New Warriors, when Speedball makes the bad pun about seeing said island by said plane's said dashboard light.
Four months after the first excursion, Joe and I once more set our sights on the open road. Unfortunately, Kyle couldn't get the time off from the library to join us (poofter!). So Joe and I went to Wisconsin, and Joe created the second soundtrack for us:
One Thing Leads to Another (Fixx)-In The Story, Kyle, Joe, and I jump from one adventure to the next with hardly a pause. Which is good, because as we found out from our last trip, we would have killed each other.
Dreamboat Annie (Heart)-One of Joe's characters in his line of "Look, I made superheroes out of songs!" group.
The Rock (Tim Curry)-See 'Dreamboat Annie'
Horny, Horny, Horny (Moose T)-In his quest for a song with Def Lepperd (for the Deaf Leopard), Joe had to resort to this song which has the line 'What if we get Def Lepperd to do it?' It was a stretch.
Trigger-Happy Jack (Poe)-aka Angry Johnny for the next track on the record. He's only made a short appearance so far, but we know he's the son of Talula Baird and quite possibly a mutant. He also gets to be in one of the seven spin-offs of The Story.
Venus (Shocking Blue)-Joe wears her underwear.
Walking on Sunshine (Katrina & the Waves)-Haven't gotten to it yet, but Joe plans to use this joke when we meet Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows once more.
theme from Never Ending Story (Limahl)-Like Joe said in the History of the Story, he tries to end The Story, but something always pulls him back in. Even the ending he has planned is open so more can be written.
theme from Wonder Woman (Electric Disco Wonder Woman Orchestra)-Fighting Riptide whose power is to spin around and shoot his skin out, Joe asked the ineffectual Marauder if he was trying to change into his Wonder Woman outfit.
One Angry Dwarf and 200 Solemn Faces (Ben Folds 5)-Joe decided a little too late that this should actually be Kyle's theme from when he was a foot tall. That and we can easily see Kyle saying "I'm your nightmare, little man!"
End of the World as We Know It (R.E.M.)-Chapters 41-49 is a 9 part all-Marvel crossover in which tons of stuff happens, and this is what it is going to be entitled.
Sick and Beautiful (Artifical Joy Club)-One of the four duos we fight as our first "superhero" fight. The other three are named after a movie, a book, and a play.
Rescue Me (Madonna)-Like 'Holding Out For a Hero' on the first tape, this is just a general hero theme title.
Tusk (Fleetwood Mac)-Yes, eventually we're going to fight the guy who's power is being able to shoot midgets out of his back.
Secret Agent Man (Blues Traveler)-Five words- Kyle Reeser: Agent of SHIELD.
Goldfinger (Shirley Bassey)-Like in Goldfinger, both Kyle and I get set up in a deathtrap involving lasers slowly moving up to cut us in half. How do we escape? Read the Story.
Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In (Medley)(Fifth Dimension)-Well, I'm guessing that the first part involves us fighting the Zodiac at some point, but I'm not sure. The second part, which has to follow the first, is once more going to involve the blidingly bright part of Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows.
Yes, this is a take-off of the Monopoly game. With Joe's soundtrack, I felt I had to give my own addition. That came when I found a MakeYourOwnOpoly game and took it from there. Here's a rundown of the board:
Supercoolopoly
"We're not calling it Supercoolopoly!"
"How about the Terrifying Mitchopoly?" "Okay, fine. Supercoolopoly."
Far from being an actual item due to the fact that it would cost money to make something like this, although it would be very, very cool. Even Supercool (don't mock me). Again, I wanted to compete with Joe's soundtracks, so I took the track "Holding Out for a Hero" by Bonnie Tyler and used it for the background theme for a cool video.
I won't go into details of what it looks like, but it would go along the same lines of the beginning scenes to the X-Men cartoon. The three of us in action, displaying our various abilities, and Kyle hopping around half-dressed. Trust me, it's great.
As you can probably guess, this isn't actually around...yet. However we have filled some of the parts...

Not in actual creation, but Joe had a complete and thorough dream that this Broadway sell-out took place. Slightly altered from the story so that it didn't infringe on Marvel, and starring three beefy guys that look NOTHING like us but who could dance. But I love the idea and when Joe and I get rich, we're making it.
