| Here is a view of the stock Hurst shifter, sitting at a height of 6 inches. | |
| Another shot of the stock height. | |
| With knob removed, stock sits at 5 inches. | |
| Remove the shifter boot by carefully pushing in the back side of it. There are clips, so be careful not to break them. | |
| After that, you can gently squeeze the sides to release those clips. | |
| Here is a picture of the bottom side of the boot. You can see how the clips fit into the console. | |
| The beast you will be replacing. Ugly, ain't it? | |
| I tried using a 1/4 rachet and 13mm socket, but it didn't fit. Damn! | |
| A revolution! Rachet style box end wrenches I got for a wedding gift! | |
| Oh man! Cooking with gas now. | |
| Here you see the difference between the stock Hurst on the left and the short stick on the right. | |
| The gold part of the stock shifter is threaded, so just thread the bolts on through. | |
| Tighten the bolts up with a 6mm allen wrench, then use the 13mm lock nuts on the right side of the stick. | |
| Snap the boot back into place. | |
| New stick height is around 3 1/2 inches. | |
| With knob threaded on, 4 1/2 inches. | |
| We have lost 1 1/2 inches in height. To tell you the truth, I was not sure I'd like the shortness of it, but it really is great. The 2-3 shift is awesome! You should never miss 2-3 again! For 25 bucks, this is a real investment in your T56. |
