I'LL NEVER SMILE AGAIN
Music and Lyrics by: Ruth Lowe
The Song: Tommy Dorsey (with vocal performance by Frank Sinatra) had a No #1 hit with 'I'll Never Smile Again' in 1940.
Homefront: Twice used as background music- both times in scenes where Charlie and Ginger are discussing their relationship problems in Brandstaetters' drugstore (Ginger is even wearing the same outfit). In 'Kids' Charlie admits that he might have made a mistake in marrying Caroline, and asks if Ginger would go out with him if he weren't married. In 'All Good Things' Ginger consoles Charlie about his breakup with Gina, while he points out that even though she may be able to 'accentuate the positive' about Arthur, Jeff is still 'down in the dumps' over their breakup.
Lyrics:

I'll never smile again,
Until I smile at you.
I'll never laugh again,
What good would it do?
For tears would fill my eyes,
My heart would realize
That our romance is through.

I'll never love again,
I'm so in love with you.
I'll never thrill again,
To somebody new.
Within my heart,
I know I will never start
To smile again,
Until I smile at you.
