I'LL BE SEEING YOU
Music and Lyrics by: Irving Kahal and Sammy Fain
The Song: First appeared in the 1930s Broadway musical 'Right This Way'. The Second World War added a poignancy to the lyrics, and several versions charted in 1944, including those of Bing Crosby and Tommy Dorsey. Later adopted by Liberace as his theme song, and there are many other recordings of this well-known song.
Homefront: In 'Appleknocker to Wed Tomatohawker (gotta love those episode titles) a teary-eyed Ginger sang this over the radio after her bust-up with Jeff. The song was also used as background music in the same episode, when Ginger was on her promotional date with Neil Schubert, and Ruth played a few bars at the piano while explaining to Mike her theory on Perrette Davis' ethnic origin.
Lyrics: Cathedral bells were tolling And our hearts sang on, Was it the spell of Paris Or the April dawn? Who knows, if we shall meet again? But when the morning chimes ring sweet again: I'll be seeing you In all the old familiar places That this heart of mine embraces all day through: In that small cafe, The park across the way, The children's carousel, The chestnut trees, The wishing well. I'll be seeing you in every lovely summer's day, In everything that's light and gay, I'll always think of you that way I'll find you in the morning sun, And when the night is new, I'll be looking at the moon But I'll be seeing you.
