ALWAYS
Music and Lyrics by Irving Berlin
The Song: One of Berlin's most popular standards, written in 1925. The Homefront version used the same arrangement as the Ella Fitzgerald Irving Berlin Songbook, although with a different female vocalist (I have no idea who this was though).
Homefront: In "A Nickel Plate Romance", Mike Sloan told Judy he would tell the band to play this song for them if he took her out on the town. When Mike visited her at the Roadhouse in "Life is Short", they danced to a vocal version of this tune.
Lyrics: Everything went wrong, And the whole day long I'd feel so blue. For the longest while I'd forget to smile, Then I met you. Now that my blue days have passed, Now that I've found you at last - I'll be loving you, always With a love that's true, always. When the things you've planned Need a helping hand, I will understand, always. Days may not be fair, always, That's when I'll be there, always. Not for just an hour, Not for just a day, Not for just a year, But always.
