Who wants to make their own web page!?!?!

Every one in our class will make their own web page for our class website. What will you make your page about? Well, we should only put important things on our class page, so how about we put your knowledge of Canadian History to use.

You are going to research one of Canada's explorers and write a report. You may choose any explorer from the list below.
John Cabot, Jacques Cartier, Christopher Columbus, Captain James Cook, Samuel De Champlain, De la Salle, John Franklin, Simon Fraser, Samuel Hearne, Anthony Henday, Henry Hudson, Henry Kelsey, James Knight, Sir Alexander Mackenzie, James Palliser, Pierre Radisson, David Thompson, George Vancouver

Once you have told me your choice, I will give you a sheet with some websites for you to visit to answer all of the following questions.

1. Where was your explorer born?

2. On what date where they born?

3. On what date did they die?

4. What was the home life like for your explorer when they grew up?
What type of family did they come from? Were they raised by both parents?

5. Did your explorer get married? To Whom?

6. Did they have children? How many? Are any of them famous?

7. Why did your explorer want to explore?

8. Tell me as much as you can about where they explored and what happened to them when they explored? Your answer must be at least six sentences, but TRY TO WRITE TEN SENTENCES OR MORE if you can because the answers from your research are worth lots of marks.

9. Do you feel your explorer was successful? Why or why not?

10. Was anything named after your explorer? Go to our globe and find it.

11. Save your research as a Microsoft Notepad document with yourname.html
Example: My name is Ken so I would save mine as ken.html
Amy will save her's as amy.html

When you finish answering these questions, you get to make it into a real web page for the internet!
I will explain how to make it into a web page in a couple days. Today, just try to answer as many questions as you can WITH AS MUCH DETAIL AS YOU CAN.

Mr. Lister's final hint: Remember that when writing a report you cannot copy your answers, or else you will be guilty of plagarism and receive a zero! Write the answers in your own words. Good Luck with your reseach Future Webmasters!
