Week of November 24, 2008
I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and gobbles up all the food!
I know that we sent out a notice from the office regarding our parent visit on Tuesday (tomorrow), at 9:00. I hope you can make it to our fourth grade presentation in the cafeteria.
Spelling: NO Spelling this week!
Reading: We are practicing simple Thanksgiving and turkey plays to present to Mrs. Bryertons class.
Written Language: Turkey TIme Packet: We are pretending that we are turkeys getting ready for dinner. We need to write a a plan, a letter of help from a fellow farm animal, and a turkey speech, for surviving the wrath of the farmer.
Math: We are just wrapping up some work on coordinates, some multiplication, and money.
DCR UPDATE: This is an independent math packet that reviews all the concepts and skills we will be using throughout the year. The children should be pacing themselves, 3-5 pages per week. I give them a weekly check on the board and they should be on pages 40 or DONE with book 1 as of Tuesday 11/25/08. There are 3 packets, one for each term. They need to try to finish one packet each term. They do not need to go ahead. It is not a race.
Science: We have wrapped up our unit on Land and Water. We will review some information after the break and have a simple assessment of what we learned in our lessons.
Social Studies: We have moved on to the Southeast. The children have filled in a map of the regions with states and capitals. We have a map test tomorrow.
Thanks, Mr. L.
