Timeline Activity - Biography

Materials -

5 sheets of colored construction paper, crayons, cutouts, or any other materials. Don’t forget glue.

Directions -

1. Fold 5 pieces of 8 1/2 x 11 construction paper in half; as shown. (below)

2. Connect the 5 sheets by taping them together with masking tape. You will end up with a line of ten spaces/cards. Remember to tape all the backs. No tape on the front.

3. To create your timeline, choose 10 important dates in the of your person. Write each date in order at the TOP of each panel. Draw a picture and write a short paragraph at the bottom of each panel, describing what happened on that date in their life. (Yes, you may type your paragraphs and attach them to each date.)

4. Don’t forget to PLAN what you are going to put on each card for a picture, date, and facts.

5. Remember to create a cover page on the opposite side of page one. Please include your person’s name, an illustration, dates of their life, the author, and your name.

6. See me with any questions. I will give you the 5 sheets of construction paper. They do not have to be the same color. However, remember that we will need to be able to see your illustration of the event on you “cards”.

7. Have fun. I have samples from the past for you to look at. We will also be watching a video of my first and second classes, to get an idea of what I expect on the presentation.
