
Classroom Rules WECOME BACK!!!!!!!! It is good to see you back in school and ready to start a new semester. I hope you had a great vacation filled with lot of memories. I would like to see everyone succeed in this class and I will be there to help you in the process of learning and facilitate your academic progress. To be successful in this class you will need to prepare for the class each day and follow the classroom rules.
The suggested material that you will need on daily basis will be as follows:
1. Notebook-3 ring binder with dividers. (Reading summaries, key words definitions, FCAT, notes, worksheets, homework, and tests). This will be left in the classroom and must be updated daily.
2. Paper. Inexpensive scientific calculator with ( Trigonometric functions and Square root).
3. Mechanical Pencil REQUIRED�All homework and tests will be taken in pencil or the homework and the test will not count. ( YOUR FIRST PENCIL IS ON ME, TAKE CARE OF IT.
4. Textbook and your work book.
What do I expect from you
1. BE ON TIME. We take a GOTCHA on time quiz right on the on bell ring. It is a 5 minutes quiz. I lock the door right on the bell ring. If you are late you will miss the quiz and receive a ZERO. For grading purposes the Gotcha on time quiz is treated as an assignement/homework .
2. Enter the classroom in an orderly manner
3. Go to your assigned seat
4. Stay in your seat.
5. COME PREPAIRED
6. Stay quiet so all can learn.
7. Need to have to have a parent/guardian note on the day immediately after your absence. I FOLLOW THS ATTENDANCE POLICY WITHOUT EXCEPTIONS.
8. If you have to go to your locker it is an unexcused TARDY.
9. Always bring your books, notebooks, calculators, pencil and papers.
10. A good attitude goes a long way and we can all benefit from that.
11. No horse play of any kind.
What should you expect from me?
1. Always prepared.
2. On time
3. Fair and consistant.
4. Be a professional.
5. Encourage your progress and help you if you need help.
6. Communicate with you and your parents openly and honestly.
7. Be available to you for tutoring after class is over. (After 2:35 p.m.)
8. Provide you with learning aides if you need it.
9. Follow school rules and policies.
The Grading Policy will be as follows: Algebra I------------------------ 75 % test avarage. 13% Quizzes 12% Homework and work sheets
Reviews of notebook organization. A grade will be given for the notebook organization similar to a work sheet assignement and homwork.
� Grades will be calculated based on the total points that you earn divided by the total points possible.
� Major Exams- mid Term (middle of 9 weeks) and a final exam. These are worth 200 possible points and they are cumulative.
� Tests- These are worth 20 or 100 possible points each and maybe administered at anytime POSSIBLE at the end of a chapter. There will be a 2-day notice for these tests are taken.
� Announced Quiz- These will be worth 20between 10 (minor) and 50 points (major) They will be announced a day in advance.
� Unannounced Quiz- �POP� Quizzes may be given anytime and may cover any material from the most recent class.
� Assignments- Assignments are done in class, if you do not complete the assignment in class it is ok to take it home.Homework- Homework is to be done and returned the next day. It will be checked graded on RANDOM basis. Your quiz reflects your assignments. There will be no surprises. If you do your assignment you will pass the quiz. The quiz grade will be entered for the assignment points. It and will be worth 10-20 points per each graded Quiz. Example if you score 15 out of 20 on the quiz, your assignment grade will be 15 too..
� Notebook- A notebook is required and will be graded at the end of each week9 weeks (possible 20100 points). Make sure it is in order and that you have saved all your homework, quizzes and tests.
� Make sure your classroom notes are organized. There will be times when you MAY be allowed to use your notes during a quiz or a test. There will be assignments daily. If you do not finish your assignment in classThere will be homework almost every night be prepared to hand in the homework the day after.
1. The Assignment/homework must show the work for all problems that are not multiple choice and or true or false.
2. If you passed the FCAT, it will enhance your test grade for the 9 weeks period.
Make up Policy Major tests, exams and quizzes must be made up upon your return to school with an ADMIT FROM THE OFFICE.. There will be no makeup tests after 3 days of your official return to class. If you make an appointment within the 23 days and for any reason you could not be there to take the test, make sure you contact me for rearranging the appointment. No shows will not get the privilege of rescheduling.
REMEMBER it is the student responsibility to make arrangements with the instructor regarding any makeup work!
Extra Credit ThereEach week there will be no extra credit problems. posted on the assignment board. Students may return these in only on Monday for additional points.
Honor Code All students are expected to do their own work. Any violation of the honor code on any assignment or test/quiz will result in a ZERO on that assignment and a possible office referral.
Progress Reports
In Addition to the required school reports, each student will keep track of their grades in their notebooks. This is to go home every Friday to be signed by a parent. I will check Monday to see if the parent has seen and signed them.
THS POLICIES WILL PREVAIL IN CASE THERE IS AN ISSUE QUESTIONED IN MY CLASSROOM RULES. I have read Mr. David Kotait�s rules and requirements to be successful in Algebra I. I understand what is required of me.
