Bookmarks section

This is currently incomplete - you can check out the following ones though - promise to put an updated list later ...

Disclaimer : These are sites that I frequent / like and in no way represent any kind of poll , popularity rating , etc.

Standard Disclaimer : Use at your own risk , blah , blah , blah ....

Programming : A small section on basic programming links.

Chess : A few links on chess gaming and programming.

Operating Systems : Alternate OS's to Microsoft monopoly.

Friends : Links to homepages of a bunch of my college friends - who managed to put some up.

Programming

Programming : Languages

C  : The online version of the programmers bible. My language of choice - also I believe the best language ever ;-))

Hmm this one looks to have been removed - sad , maybe updated later !

Intercal : This is a tough language to be fluent in (I'm not yet good at it :-( )  , achieves its objective of being the language most different from all other computer languages. Nice fun to learn - totally unrelated to what most people's work - so you can do it just for the challenge :)

Java : Language that I'm currently using - pretty good.

Programming : Compilers

DJGPP - 32 bit port of gcc to DOS platform.

Related links - MingW , Cygwin : both of these are gcc ports to Win* .

Programming : Libraries - currently only graphics libraries I have used

Allegro - A really good game programming library, with plenty of good docs , example programs and multiple platform support ! I used to use this heavily at college :)

Related links SDL - Another really good library from Loki software.

Chess

Chess : Engines

There are tons of free and amateur engines. You can get a lot of them from here (Chessopolis).

Engine sources : Has a list of downloadable chess engines (sources mostly).

Chess : Tutorials , documentation

Chess programming from ground up : Good introduction to chess programming.

Bruce Moreland's programming page : Another good chess programming resource for a beginner.

Ed's programming page : From the author of Rebel. Slightly more advanced.

Dot Bishop : Contains a list of .ps files on the various papers published on chess programming and chess search.

Shep's site : Contains a good list of test suites and their analysis and the output of the top engines when run against them. Very essential to test any decent engine on these to know where your engine stands w.r.t to others ...

Talkchess  is a good place to ask about programming information and get your doubt's clarified.

XBoard / WinBoard is very useful if you plan only to write the chess-engine and not the gui.

Chess : Openings , databases

Chessopolis : Nice set of PGN opening  files - for different opening styles.

Operating Systems

Hurd : A very advanced operating system - still in development stage though , can be installed tested and developed upon though.

Linux : One of the more famous desktop alternative to the Microsoft monopoly.

QNX : Yeah , use an RTOS for your day to day needs !
