1967 CHEVROLET CAMARO RS/SS SURVIVOR VIN # 124377L116418
This is an all original, unmolested survivor car. All numbers, codes and dates on the car match.
(see below for code related information). The car is an original RS-SS, 4-speed Muncie A/C car - Butternut Yellow with the original black vinyl top. It is equipped with deluxe interior also. This is a rare car - less than 13% of Camaros this year had A/C, only 22% had a 4 speed and very few probably had A/C and 4 speed. This Camaro is one of the most highly optioned and original cars that I have seen.
The car has it's original MS code "SS" engine, original Muncie transmission, shifter, interior, original 12-bolt rear end, bumper guards, and vinyl top. It's so original it has the original hood insulation with the original "round" clips. The a/c compressor is original (has '66 date code), as is the radiator cap and air cleaner (which has the imprinted text on underside of the lid). The alternator, starter and I believe the ignition coil is original also. The car even has the original AM radio in the dash. In the trunk it has the original trunk mat and jacking equipment. It has the original master cylinder cover too, which leads me to believe that the master cylinder may be original also. The cars still has the old style keys, one with "GM" inprinted on it.
Its quite unbelievable that this car has been virtually untouched for over 35 years. When looking for a Camaro, most I found were chopped up and replaced with all kinds of parts over the years- like replacement engines, swapped out transmissions and so on. This one, however, is extremely original.
Here is the info on the car:
I have tried to document the car by taking several pictures and providing code breakdowns for the car.
This car is a Van Nuys built car (LOS). It is a two owner car. Second owner bought it in 1976. It was stored from 1987 until recently. The car is out of Oklahoma and Texas area. It runs great. For restoration the main work involved will be body and paint
Exterior:
It appears that the car has been painted on in some areas, although some of the paint looks original. The chrome is in good shape and the body and floors are solid. There is some surface rust in some areas of the fenders and above the wheel opening, where the paint has worn through. There are a few rust spots in the hood and some behind the rear wheel wells and behind the rear window, which is pretty common on these cars. Part of the vinyl top has come off in back under the rear window where some surface rust has started. There are no dents on the car whatsoever. The paint is faded Butternut Yellow.
Interior:
The interior is in great shape. The drivers seat is ripped, although its been taped up. The original dash is perfect. The headliner is in great shape with no rips or tears. Carpet probably needs to be replaced some time soon. The seat belts are in good shape, with no rusting of the buckles. The console is in tact and complete, with nice chrome trim. All the correct knobs and trim pieces are in tact. The original console is complete. The interior lights work great.
Engine:
The engine does not burn oil, leak oil or smoke. The starts up fine and idles steady, does not misfire. The car shifts through the gears great. The brakes work good, as does the power steering. I was told that some engine work (valve job) was done around 8 years ago. This car is very strong mechanically. The clutch is nice and tight.
It needs the following if restoring:
- It is missing an antenna
- Headlight doors do not currently work
- Front windshield is cracked (a new one will be included with the car)
- Drivers seat is ripped and needs recovering
- Drivers door has very small 1" crack in door panel (easy fix, see picture)
- Surface rust is mainly limited to the hood and behind the rear wheel wells, as usual on these cars.
- The vinyl top will need to be replaced (new one included with the car from Classic Industries)
- There is some slight bubbling from under the vinyl top
- Front end-link bushings and front springs need to be replaced soon

1967 RS/SS Chevrolet Camaro
This RS-SS survivor car is mechanically sound. It needs restoration to be perfect, but right now it runs great, shifts great and is a blast to drive. It will need body work and paint if restored. This car is a great investment and I know the car's value will appreciate a great deal over the next several years. I really wanted to keep it myself and started to restore it, but no longer have the funds to do so.
This car deserves to be restored properly. I thought about putting a cheapo paint job on it, but decided against it since I think a car of this caliber deserves better. Every number is matching on this car and it still retains all the factory components, just as it did when it left the factory in 1967.
This is an excellent opportunity for one lucky bidder - it's the kind of car you want to start out with when doing a complete restoration - plus it has new tires, gas tank and is ready to go!
