Dreaming and Creativity:
If you looked at the picture and then at the title of this, you might ask yourself, what does Superman: The Escape have to do with Dreaming and Creativity? The answer might suprise you.
It happens to all of us. We get caught up in our jobs, careers, school work, and other concerns. We look at that which is as the only way things should be done. Instead of looking around, we assume that any project we are working on is being done the best way anyone has ever done it. Sometimes this is true. However, sometimes, we interfere with our own creativity. Who says, for example, that a roller coaster MUST lie on a track that has a specific beginning and ending? The designers of Superman: The Escape didn't seem to think that was a hard and fast rule. Instead, these individuals dared to dream of a roller coaster like no other. Now, this ride thrills millions with its 100+ mph speeds and towering heights. Also, this ride continues to draw people to Six Flags Magic Mountain from all parts of the World! Is Dreaming or thinking outside the box a bad idea? No!
Why don't we do it more often then? Why don't we keep trying to push the limits in our daily endeavors? Most of the time, fear stops us. How many times have you thought of something that was probably going to improve the overall quality of an organization, project, or place of employment? And how many times have you thought, "No, I better not say anything because they might laugh at me." Well my friends, I say this: "He who fears to dream and share, fears to succeed and prosper." Push the limits and redefine them! |
