Unlock Dr. Mario
Complete 1-P Classic Mode with Mario at any difficulty. After you finish the final stage and view the credits, you will be challenged to a battle with Dr. Mario. Defeat him and you'll be able to use him as a playable character. He does not take a ? space; instead, he will appear to the left of Mario. An alternative method is to play Vs. Mode at least 100 times. At the end of the 100th fight, the winner will go on to face Dr. Mario. He'll appear to face the winner at the end of every fight past 100 until he is defeated and unlocked as a playable character. This rule also applies to all other characters that can be unlocked by playing Vs. Mode.

Unlock Jigglypuff
Complete 1-P Mode with any character at any difficulty. After completing the final stage and watching the credits, you'll be challenged to a battle with Jigglypuff. Defeat her and you'll be able to use her as a playable character. She occupies one of the ? spaces. An alternative method to earning Jigglypuff is to play Vs. Mode at least 50 times.

Unlock Luigi
In 1-P Adventure Mode, pass the flag in the first part of Mushroom Kingdom so that the last digit in the timer is two seconds (for example, 2:02:37). Luigi will appear in the next section of Mushroom Kingdom. Defeat him quickly and win the stage. Then, go on to complete Adventure Mode. After watching the credits, Luigi will challenge you to a battle. Defeat him and you'll be able to use him as a playable character. An alternative method to getting Luigi is to play Vs. Mode at least 800 times. Luigi will appear to the right of Mario, and Pikachu will be moved to the first ? space.

Unlock Marth
Complete 1-P Mode with all 14 standard characters. After finishing the game with the last character, you'll be challenged to a fight. Win and you'll be able to use Marth as a playable character. An alternative method is to play Vs. Mode at least 400 times, or to complete 1-P Classic Mode with all standard characters except for Bowser. Marth occupies one of the ? spaces.

Unlock Ganondorf
Complete 1-P Event Match #29 (Tri-Force Gathering). After you do, a battle with Ganondorf will begin. Defeat him and you'll be able to use him as a playable character. An alternative method is to play Vs. Mode at least 600 times. Ganondorf does not appear in a ? space; instead, you'll find him to the right of Donkey Kong.

Unlock Pichu
Complete 1-P Event Match #37 (Legendary Pokemon). After you do, a battle with Pichu will begin. Defeat him and you'll be able to use him as a playable character. An alternative method is to play Vs. Mode at least 200 times. Pichu occupies one of the ? spaces.

Unlock Young Link
Complete 1-P Classic Mode with 10 of the 14 standard characters, one of which must be Link. Once you've completed the game with the 10th character, the credits will scroll and then the battle will begin. Defeat Young Link to earn him as a playable character. He does not appear in a ? space; instead, you'll find him to the right of Link. An alternative method is to play Vs. Mode at least 500 times.

Unlock Roy
Complete 1-P Classic Mode with Marth. After viewing the credits, you'll enter a battle with Roy. Win and he'll be unlocked as a playable character. Roy does not appear in a ? space; instead, you'll find him to the right of Marth. An alternative method to unlocking Roy is to play Vs. Mode at least 900 times.

Unlock SMB2 Multiplayer Stage
Find the Birdo Trophy in an Adventure Mode level or try winning it in the Lottery. Once you have the trophy in your possession, you'll receive a message that the level has been unlocked. You can then play that level in Vs. Mode.

Unlock Random Multiplayer Stages
You will unlock Brinstar Depths, Fourside, Big Blue, and Poke Floats after completing 200 Vs. Mode battles. Every 50 battles, you will receive one of those stages. The stage you receive is occasionally chosen at random, but most of the time they will be unlocked in the order listed here.

Unlock Falco
Complete the 100-Man Melee. After you finish, you'll face Falco. Defeat him and he'll be unlocked as a playable character. If you lose, you'll have to complete the 100-Man Melee all over again. Falco does not appear in a ? space; instead, you'll find him to the left of Fox. An alternative method to unlocking Falco is to play Vs. Mode at least 300 times.

Unlock Classic Yoshi's Island
Hit Sandbag at least 1,323 feet in the Home Run Contest with one character.

Unlock Flat Zone Stage
Successfully complete 1-P Classic Mode or 1-P All-Star Mode with Mr. Game & Watch. You must complete either mode without losing a life. If you manage to complete the game under those conditions, you'll open Flat Zone. Flat Zone will appear in the top-right corner of the Stage Select screen.

Unlock Mr. Game & Watch
Successfully complete 1-P Classic Mode with all other characters. When you complete the game with the final character, Mr. Game & Watch will appear to battle you. Defeat him and he'll be unlocked as a playable character. Mr. Game & Watch occupies one of the ? spaces. An alternative method to getting Mr. Game & Watch is to play at least 1,000 Vs. Mode games.

Unlock Battlefield Stage
Complete 1-P All-Star Mode once with any character. When you do, Battlefield will be unlocked. You'll find the bonus stage below the ? stages on the Stage Select screen.

Unlock Classic Dream Land Stage
Complete the 1-P Target Test with all 25 characters. Classic Dream Land will appear below the ? stages on the Stage Select screen.

All-Star Mode
Successfully unlock all 25 characters. You'll get a message saying that 1-P All-Star Mode is open once you do.

Unlock Mewtwo
Play Vs. Mode for 20 hours or more, or play Vs. Mode at least 700 times. Once 20 hours has been passed or the 700th game has been played, Mewtwo will challenge the winner of the match (in a Team Battle, the member of the winning team with the most overall KOs) to a one-on-one fight. Win and Mewtwo will be unlocked as a playable character.

Unlock Final Destination Stage
Successfully complete 1-P Event Level 51. Once you do, you'll receive a message saying that the course was unlocked. To get to Level 51, you'll need to open levels 30 - 50 and complete every event (up to and including Lv. 50).

Unlock Event Match Levels 30 - 39
Unlock Jigglypuff, Luigi, Falco, Young Link, and Dr. Mario. Then, go to 1-P Event Match and scroll down to find the 10 new levels.

Unlock Event Match Levels 40 - 50
Unlock all 25 characters. Then, go to 1-P Event Match and scroll down to find the new levels.

Unlock Event Match Level 51
Complete Events 1 - 50. Once all of those levels are finished, Level 51 will open.

Sound Test
Complete the entire game. That means unlocking all 25 characters, every hidden multiplayer stage, and completing every Event Match up to (and including) Level 51.

Unlock Classic Kongo Jungle Stage
Complete the 15 Minute Melee. You must survive for the entire 15 minutes to unlock the course. Good luck!

Fight Crazy Hand
To fight the Crazy Hand, play Classic Mode (1-P) on Normal or higher difficulty. Complete all stages leading up to the final battle within 15 minutes, and without using any continues. When you knock the Master Hand's HP down to 150, the Crazy Hand will appear.

Star Fox Team Appearance
When playing as Fox or Falco on Corneria or Venom, press Left, Right quickly several times on the D-Pad. Your character will crouch into a ball if you successfully complete the trick. He will remain there for several seconds, so make sure you avoid other players beforehand. When the trick is completed, the Star Fox team will give you advice or just talk with each other. They will also attack opponents very, very rarely.

Start As Sheik
If you are playing as Zelda, you can start as Sheik when the battle begins. When you're waiting for the fight to begin, press and hold the A button. Zelda will instantly become Sheik when the battle starts.
