Ambassador's Dispatch

February 25, 2001 vol.1 no.7

Huzzah! Okay, so it's not a huge event, but this is my first radical visual change for my site. I have no intention of getting rid of the sky and clouds background.  I'm rushing things a little on this update, so please make sure you look at last week's Dispatch since it was only up a few days and deserves some attention if you're a comics fan.

Speaking of comics the 2001 Mega-Con in Orlando, FL, being held next weekend, will include a huge original art auction to support ACTOR, A Committment To Our Roots. ACTOR is a new organization formed to aid those who came before. This convention will be the group's premiere event, so expect to hear quite a bit more about them by this time next week.  From the little bit I understand so far it seems to have a high aim and bears watching My only negative comment at this stage is that they've chosen to make this first big event - where a huge variety of items are being auctioned - so much a marketing event for Mega-Con by refusing to allow some or all of the items to be available online. They would be far more likely to see much more money come in than will likely be the case by limiting it to those who can make it to Orlando next weekend. Allowing internet input into a traditional auction set-up would likely have paid off handsomely for their cause.

Having felt almost relentlessly jerked around by OZ all season, and perhaps never so much so as with tonight's season-ender, I'm really looking forward to the new season of The Sopranos starting next Sunday.

Another long week lies ahead, and I have to get up early Monday morning.

Enjoy the site, keep your eyes open for updates, and don't be shy about dropping me a line about any of it.
