The design shows the windward mark with Mt. St. Helens in the background in a style inspired by 19th century Japanese woodblock prints of Mt. Fuji. The cloud over the mountain turned out to foreshadow an actual eruption that occurred during racing on Saturday, July 16, 2005, about 1:30 p.m., accompanied by a magnatude 3.5 earthquake.
