What happened to kids in America? Have we as a nation gone so far off the moral path that the youth of America are now socially poisoned beyond recovery?
Everyday we see more and more cases of what we like to call misbehaving children, but whose fault is it? The parents! I have relatively conservative parents who grew up with good parents with good morals and good-being in society, and they passed it along to me. I, in turn, have become "socially acceptable." Then I look down the street and see kids 10 years younger than me hitting their parents because their parents told them they couldnt go see their friends after dinner until their homework gets done. How do kids get this way? A lack of good parenting. Kids learn a lot of behavioral patterns from their parents because hey, its their parents! So why are parents neglecting on teaching their kids socially proper behavior?
My theory is that each generation is getting lazier and lazier because we are Americans. All we do is try to find ways to make work easier, if not nonexistent. Parents are now becoming less concerned on working to get their kids to behave and more on doing whatever the fuck they want. Take for instance the new show Honey, Were Killing the Kids. All they do on that show is explain to parents how much they fucked their kids up by not disciplining them and letting their kids get whatever the fuck they want. We wouldnt need shows like this if the parents just took a little responsibility for their kids.
Another thing thats making kids discipline go down the shitter is the growing corruptness of todays American society. For one quick example, just look at TV from 1970 and TV today. Back in 1970, a wholesome comedy about a little boy with a slingshot was edgy. Nowadays, people dont watch a show unless it has either sex, scandal, or violence. They may as well just throw morality into a coffin and bury it, because thats the effect TV is having nowadays.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas dont even get me started. What better a game to let a 12 year old play than a game in which all you do is steal, shoot civilians, run from and/or kill authority figures such as the police, fuck prostitutes, and all while looking real gangsta-like. Its not a game, folks. Doing any of these things is bad, doing them all together is just horrifically wrong. What did you learn today, Billy? I learned that hoes are bitches and need to be taught a lesson if they dont pay me. Very good, Billy, what else? Anal costs $50 more than vaginal intercourse. Excellent, Billy! Now you can function in society! Dont forget: Wrap your tool so you dont get VD from those skanky hoes! The sad thing is GTA: San Andreas wasnt the first game to do this, and is certainly not the last. Theres already other games out that do the same shit.
However, we must not go too far off-topic. The discussion was that parents need to learn how to take proper care of their kids. As far as video games like GTA: San Andreas is concerned, parents need to do two things:
1. DONT LET YOUR KIDS PLAY THESE GAMES!!! I work at a video store, and boy do I have stories. For example, about a year ago, a mother came in with her 12-year-old boy and actually let her kid get GTA: San Andreas! The game and card both explicitly said for 18 and up, and we warned her more than once about the game, and she STILL let her kid get it. This is what Im talking about when I say parents need to take some responsibility for their kids.
2. See what your kids are doing! Be nosey to the point of annoyance if you have to! If my parents hadnt kept a close eye on me as a kid, theres no telling how shitty I would have turned out! Pay attention to them dont let them go on with life without first telling you whats going on.
Besides all this, theres childhood obesity. This also stems from the American Dream of being as lazy as possible. In my neighborhood, theres a couple of kids who ride around on electric scooters for fun. WHERE DID THE EXERCISE GO?!? Kids dont exercise means kids get fat, which means shorter life expectancy on top of an increased risk of dozens of diseases that are directly connected to overweight and obese conditions. When we give our kids electric scooters so they dont have to push themselves along, were taking away their life. Kids have plenty of energy, let them push themselves, and at the same time get some NEEDED exercise!
Honey, Were Killing our Kids is a show that helps select families give their kids their lives back. Sadly enough, aside from the few families they help, theres tens of thousands of families in America just like the ones on the show. So how do we get the kids to behave? The answer, my friend, lies with the parents. Parents are the only ones who can truly control their kids, but they have to put forth the effort to make that happen.
If we dont fix this problem, very soon the cases will get so extreme that there will be no way to go back to a proper society, and America will go down the crap shoot, then well need more than the parents to fix the problem.
