This wild sequel to Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl will keep you enthralled from the first minute... If you have a good attention span. The original cast is brought back to life, but how much life is yet to be determined. The story begins shortly after the end of the first movie, with everyone in their rightful setting. Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) must once again save his beloved Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) from the grips of death by donning his pirate personality. Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) has found himself in trouble again, this time with the legendary Davy Jones (Bill Nighy), concerning the ownership of the Black Pearl. Throw in a few side stories, and you have an 150 minute movie!

The special effects in this movie are on the same level as the first, but the amount of stunts, action, and comedy have increased. You will laugh your pants off as you enjoy the rather peculiar fight scenes. The hidden twists in this movie will keep you guessing, and the ending is nowhere in sight, because the creators felt that the third installment of this series would make a good conclusion feature.

The script in the sequel was weak compared to the first movie. It seems that the writers struggled at times to put in a clever quip here and there, but if it's those cliche one-liners you're looking for, this is the right movie! The 150-minute cliffhanger was a bit much, but hopefully the third installment will be as gratifying as the first one in the end.

Go get some PotC cliffnotes, or wait for the DVD release (unless you really want to see it on the big screen, like so many others, including myself, did). The thought of a 150 minute cliffhanger is kind of disturbing... I guess I get to wait until next May for the ending, which will hopefully be a little shorter.
