The Benchwarmers is a heart-warming film with features similar to those of the Revenge of the Nerds series. The joke-after-joke style provides constant entertainment and plenty of one-liners to repeat amongst your peers... If you happen to be between the ages of ten and sixteen.

This movie was designed with childish humor in mind, making it fun to watch if you don't feel like thinking for 80 minutes. It is one of those movies that you either love or hate, and I loved it. Of the three main characters, Clark (Jon Heder aka Napoleon Dynamite) is the clumsiest nerd of the trio. When he's asked to step up to the plate for this first time, he couldn't even keep the bat in his hands (and for many times thereafter). His nerd-partner, Richie (David Spade) is gifted with a mind for comebacks and insults, which helps him cope with his lack of athleticism and charm. Gus (Rob Schneider) is the oddly-athletic nerd, whose expertise and great skill in baseball come in handy when they decide to play baseball against the bullies to gain respect for nerds everywhere.

These three actors were perfectly placed in their roles for The Benchwarmers. All of their acting strengths are played out in this film, making it a homerun amongst the teen crowd.

If you're looking for a movie with intellect, you'd best keep looking, but if you need something to just make you laugh, this is the movie for you. While the more "sophisticated" crowd may not appreciate the crude humor in this movie, it is still open game for many other people.
