J. K. Rowling

What? You've never heard of J.K. Rowling? Then, you either don't have kids at home, or you're living in a cave. (And, if you're in a cave, how is it that you have Internet access?) Rowling is the author of the wildly popular Harry Potter series, the books that give hope to children's writers everywhere that we, too, can acheive fame and fortune.

Even if you don't have kids at home, pick up these books. They tell the story (in a planned seven installments) of a young boy named Harry Potter, who finds out that he is a wizard and one of the only people who has the power to fight Lord Voldemort, the most evil or all evil wizards. Each book chronicles a year in Harry's life, most of it spent at Hogwarts, the wizarding school, where he learns how to cast spells and play quidditch, and thwarts Voldemort's plans to take over the world. Rowling has created a fascinating world and memorable characters, and the main theme of the books :"Love is the strongest magic of all" comes shining through.

Books in the series:

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkabhan

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
