Homework
Welcome to Seventh Grade!
Your first assignment of the year is to find a three-ring binder that you can use for math only. You will keep your homework, quizzes, notes, tests, and vocabulary words in it. All students should have a binder and bring it to class on either August 21st (A day) or August 22 (B day classes).
The Binder order is as follows:
Policies and Procedures
Notes
Homework
Vocabulary
Tests and Quizzes
Journal
In addition, Periods 1, 3/8, 6, and 9 should be reviewing their multiplication facts up through the twelves tables. You will be periodically tested on your math facts until I am satisfied that everyone knows them. Memorizing these facts will help you stretch your brains, AND will make learning seventh grade math much easier -- you can focus on the new material instead of struggling to keep up with the basic calculations.
UPDATE: October 28th . . .
Advanced Math has just finished Chapter Three and is working on Chapter Four, which is all about factors and fractions. The expected schedule is to complete two sections a day. The assignments are usually the even numbered problems from each section:
October 28: 4.1, 4.2
October 30: 4.3, 4.4
November 4: 4.5, 4.6
November 6: 4.7, 4.8
November 8: 4.9, 4.10
November 12: Test
The Math 7 classes are working on Chapter Six, which includes ratios and proportions. Students should know how to find equivalent fractions, change fractions to decimals, and solve simple proportions at this point.
Report cards will be issued around November 14.
Update: March 17
Just ten weeks left in the school year! Hard to believe, isn't it?
The final project of the year -- Board Games-- was due before Spring Break. We will not have a project the last six weeks.
TAKS (Texas Assessment of Skilss and Knowledge) testing for 7th grade Writing and Math will be held on April 26 and April 27. For more information, see the TEA website .
