I
know my antennas will perform as well as i say they will.
How do i know you might say?
Well if you read this little test you will understand.
What i did was send one
of my antennas to a person i have never met.
He tested mine
against other antennas .
Now i dont see to many
other manufacture doing this.
I could have lost but I didn't
What does that say for "MR COILY".
THAT
THIS IS A REAL ANTENNA AND NOT A "HYPED" UP BRAND NAME.
WHEN YOU OWN A
COILY YOU OWN A WINNER.
THIS IS A TEST DONE BY
UNCLE JIM
A VERY WELL KNOWN PERSON OUT
HERE ON THE NET.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ASK HIM
ABOUT THE TEST I AM INCLUDING HIS PAGE LINK.

Ok,
Children...Here are the results:
I left Dave and Nick at Dave's house on the base, because
Nick didn't want to "be hot"! On Dave's base, he used his
Pluto instead of his Lincoln because it has an analog meter.
The base antenna used was a Penetrator 500, mounted on a pole
about 20 feet to the base of the antenna.
In my car, I used my Galaxy DX-99, with my Dosey TC-4002-PSW
test center to monitor the settings. I would install the 102"
whip, first, as a reference antenna for each test, at each distance.
Then I would change to the next antenna, which was a Maveric
antenna, then to my Maverick "Shoot Out" antenna, then to
the "Mr. Coily" antenna. I would transmit a 10 second dead
carrier, and modulate by saying "ahhhhhhhhhhhh", two times to
get a peak swing. At the longer distances, you'll see that I had to
turn on the Texas Star 225. The wattage was 100, swinging to
approximately 200 watts at a 1.5 watt drive from the DX-99.
For ALL barefoot tests, the wattage was set at 3 watts, with a swing to
18 watts. By the way, we were transmitting and receiving on 19A
(27.195). We did this to get on a clear channel. I was on I-35, and had
some occasional bleed over problems, but nothing
to effect the test.
Below are the results of the signals received by the BASE radio.

In all fairness, I
must say that the amplifier was getting
REALLY hot toward the end of the test. That's why there are big
discrepencies between the different antennas. In other words,
the reference, or 102" whip ALWAYS got tested with a cool
amplifier. I would test all the antennas, and move to the next
location and start out with the 102" whip, and a cooled off amp.
Shoulda' thought about this!
Short report on Mr. Coily's antenna... This thing is half the size of my
Maverick, and constructed like a TANK! The attention to detail is
excellent! This guy must take a lot of time with
these things.
I tried all the antennas sitting still. The 102" whip is a most
excellent antenna design, as you all know. It works GREAT when you're
sitting still. However, at 70 miles per hour, the SWR rises
dramatically! With the other antennas, this problem did not occur.
ESPECIALLY with the Mr. Coily antenna. The stinger is exceptionally
heavy gauge, and STIFF! The SWR did not change at all between sitting
still, and 70 MPH. Neither did my Maverick "Shoot Out"
antenna. The other Maverick changed from 1.1 sitting still, to 1.8. The
102" whip changed from 1.1 sitting still, to 2.7 to 1, at 70 MPH.
Obviously, the transmit and receive qualities were drastically affected.
So...Our Conclusions? If you're sitting very still, and there's no wind
blowing, get the 102" whip. If you want to compete, and you want to
talk on your radio while you're DRIVING, get the Mr. Coily antenna. The
thing is built solid as a rock, and performs every bit as well as the
102" whip. This thing is made of MUCH heavier gauge material than a
102" whip. In my oppinion, it will take wattage that would melt a
102 incher. I can't imagine anything going wrong with this antenna,
inless you hit an overpass at 80!
It's too bad that 320 didn't have the time (or balls?) to include his
antenna is this "REAL WORLD" test. I can't imagine his being
built any stronger than Mr. Coily's. This is THE antenna to have!
Congratulations, Dan! You have a GREAT product!
There will be follow up comments, and pictures to come...
Thank you Nick, and thank you David. You are great friends, and
I can't tell you how much I appreciate your help. Please feel free to
fill in any blanks I've left. LTA, UJ |
Florida vulture test
THIS IS AN
UNCHANGED TEST
FROM FLORIDA
MY ANTENNA WAS IN A SLIGHT ALTERCATION WITH A VULTURE! GOING AROUND SADDLE CREEK
(LAKE) ONE DAY THIS CROSS EYED VULTURE TRIED TO GET TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE
ROAD. KISSED MY ANTENNA BETWEEN THE COILS. BROKE THE ANTENNA OFF THE MOUNT. THE
ANTENNA AND THE VULTURE, DID ABOUT SIX FLIPS. THEN HIT THE ROAD BEHIND ME.
STICKING THE STINGER IN A CRACK IN THE ROAD. A TRUCK BEHIND ME TRIED TO MISS IT,
BUT THE ANTENNA STINGER WAS HIT BY HIS BACK TIRE AND WAS BENT BEYOND REPAIR. THE
REST OF THE ANTENNA WAS A LITTLE BLOODY AN COVERED WITH FEATHERS. WHEN I WASHED
THE ANTENNA OFF THE STINGER WAS THE ONLY THING MESSED UP. ONE TOUGH ANTENNA,
I'LL SAY.
NOW!, AS FOR THE ANTENNA. THIS IS ONE ANTENNA TO BE RECKONED WITH, MY AUDIO
OUTPUT IMPROVED, ALONG WITH RANGE. WHEN I FIRST BUT IT ON MY TRUCK. EVERY ONE
SAID IT WAS THIS OR THAT TYPE OF ANTENNA NOT TO MENTION ANY NAMES. THEY WHERE
NOT TO EASY TO CONVINCE, AT FIRST. THAT THIS ANTENNA WAS ANY BETTER THEN THE
ONES THEY WHERE USING. LOUIE (HONEYMAN), WAS USING A WILSON 2000, JOHN (41) WAS
USING A STEEL 102" WHIP. WALKER (WALKER) WAS AT HOME ON HIS BASE. 41, WAS
AT HOME IN HIS FRONT YARD IN HIS TRUCK ABOUT 12 MILES FROM WALKER. RUNNING 250W
AMP. HONEYMAN, WAS ABOUT 15 MILES FROM WALKER. HONEYMAN WAS RUNNING A 600W AMP.
MY SELF (WIRE CUTTER) WAS ABOUT 18 MILES FROM WALKER. I WAS USING A 150W AMP.
(NOTE: TO KEEP THIS SHOOT OUT FARE EACH ONE OF US HAD A SENTENCE TO READ THAT
WALKER DID NOT KNOW ABOUT.) WHEN WE WAS ALL SET WALKER SAID GO. I KEYED AN READ
MY LINE. ALONG WITH 41, AND HONEYMAN. NEEDLESS TO SAY I WAS SURPRISED, AND
SMILING. WALKER REPEATED THE SENTENCE THAT HE HEARD, AN MR. COILY WAS THE HANDS
DOWN WINNER..... WALKER ALSO TOLD THEM AFTER WE WHERE TALKING THAT I WAS PUTTING
1S METER MORE ON HIM THEN THEY WHERE. ALL THAT HAD TO BE SAID, WAS SAID THAT
NIGHT. THE WORD IS GETTING AROUND IN OUR GROUP I HAVE THREE GUYS THAT AS SOON AS
THEY CAN INTEND TO GET A MR. COILY ANTENNA. MORE WILL FOLLOW YOU MAKE IT THEY
WILL COME. HA!
GREAT ANTENNA AN VULTURE PROOF AT 60 MILES AN HOUR..
