Chapter 5 – Likewise
Sitting with Paul in Portland watching the sunset was so surreal. The sky was the most amazing blend of red, yellow, purple and blue that i had ever seen. The moment was perfect. Paul looked at his watch, it was 6:45; we had fifteen minutes to get back to the bus. I stood up and wrapped my arms around Paul’s neck, kissing him.
“What was that for?” Paul asked me.
“Oh nothing…not a thing” I giggled as his fingers intertwined with mine and we walked back to the bus.
When we got there, the immature Benji greeted us in the “kitchen” of the bus.
“And where were you two this evening?”
“What’s it to ya?” Paul asked.
“Nothing. Absolutely nothing.” Benji picked up the two plates of food and started walking to the back lounge.
“Hey Benj, I thought you were on a diet!” Paul yelled.
“Screw you Biotch! The second plate’s for Emily!” the sound of Emily’s name made Benji’s face light up.
“Hmmm what’s so great about this Emily girl?” I asked Paul.
“I don’t know. It’s hard to talk to her with Benji’s tongue down her throat, but she seems nice.”
I sat down on the couch next to Joel and Paul grabbed some pizza for the three of us. The bus started up. We were finally on our way to Seattle.
“Hey guys…ehh and girls…I’m starting a movie. Get you ass to the back lounge if you wanna watch it!” Benji yelled.
“What are we watching?” Paul yelled back.
“A Walk To Remember.”
Paul called Benji a Pansy.
“Hey! Emily wants to watch it!”
“Suuuuure” I heard Billy tell Benji.
“Oh sure, because Emily wants to watch a movie…we have to subject ourselves to Shane West.” Paul told me.
“Hey, that’s not a bad thing!”
“Oh yeah?” Paul tickled me and I laughed uncontrollably.
“Knock it off in there you two!” Joel yelled.
Paul and I finished up our pizza and went into the back lounge right before the movie.
“Oh, you haven’t met Emily yet or Benji…have you Hailey?”
“Nope.”
Emily stood up and shook my hand. “Nice to meet you.” I was surprised by her English accent. She stood about 5’1” with long pink and black hair. She had her lip pierced. When she pulled her hair behind her ear, I noticed the stretched holes, tragus piercing and barbell through the top of her right ear. She was defiantly punk in her black bondage pants, red and black skull and cross bone top and level 27 shirt over that.
“Likewise”
“Hey! I met you before in the kitchen!” Benji said.
“Nope. You didn’t say hi. I feel unloved.”
“Oh I’m sorry. I couldn’t hear you over Paul’s insults” He gave Paul an evil eye and then stood up. “I’m Benji.” He gave me a hug and shook my hand. “wait, I do know you, you’re Paul’s old girlfriend, right?”
I nodded.
Emily skooched over so I could sit next to her. I did, and there was no room left for Paul. So he was stuck next to Billy and Ayla. Sucks to be him I thought.
