Teachers and Administrators

All too often, public educators see it as their duty to assign grades to students and get them along to the next grade level. I find this way of thinking to be completely wrong!

As an educator, it is our job to share information with our students. We should impart knowledge by actively engaging our students in the learning environment. We shouldn’t have the final goal of passing our students on; rather, we should be concerned with helping them gain the knowledge that will prepare them for the years ahead.

We should seek the best from each of our students, and while we should hold high expectations for all, we must acknowledge when students put forth good effort and grow intellectually. While we hope that all students can achieve the same successes, we cannot punish students if they are trying their best and yet failing to meet our expectations.

As educators, we must lay the framework for lifelong learning. We must prepare our students for subsequent years and make learning an activity that each child enjoys and appreciates.
