Songs Debuted on Tour: NONE!!!!!!!!

Overview: You would think that this tour would suck. No new material. This is the third tour with the same material. BUT, for some reason, they pulled it off. This was heads and tails better then the last two tours. I think the main reason was the band was finally comfortable with the material.

The Songs That Were Played:

"24.000 Baci" (Adriano Celentano)

Played just the way it was in 1995, but somehow lacking something. A high point of the tour, none the less.

"Drug Me" (Dead Kennedys)

This was played exactly the same as it was in 1992.

"Ei Raat Tomar Amar" (Hemanta Mukherjee)

This was generally played after Travolta. This version was FAR inferior to the 1995 and 1996 versions.

"I Feel For You" (Jerry Reed)

"If You Had My Love" (Jennifer Lopez)

Another end of song type thing, which only consisted of Patton singing the lyrics over the end of another song.

"Say My Name" (Destiny's Child)

Another end of song type thing, which only consisted of Patton singing the lyrics over the end of another song.

"State Oppression" (Raw Power)

"The Stroke" (Billy Squier)

This was played exactly the same as it was in 1992.

"The Thing Strikes" (Henry Mancini)

This was played exactly the same as it was in 1992.

"What The World Needs Now Is Love" (Burt Bacharach)

A great song. This was done very dramaticly, with a great instrumentation, and Patton crooning.

Ars Moriendi

This was similar to the album version, with the accordion and violin played by a sampler. This song sticks out as one of the worst songs on this tour in my opinion. It came off lifeless and boring at every performance. The use of samples totally killed it.

Chemical Marriage

Played the same as on previous tours, with ‘Love Is A Fist’ inserted into the middle.

Desert Search for Techno Allah

Played the same as on previous tours, with minor differences in keyboard tones.

Goodbye Sober Day

This song was, for the most part, played as it is on the album, with the difference coming in the “kecak” section, and the part immediately preceding it. Both were more “rock”, with different guitar parts. Click Here for an mp3 of the middle section.

Merry Go Bye Bye

This was played fairly similar to the album version, with the difference coming in the middle. Instead of what normal goes there, they played a medley of songs from ‘Raging Wrath Of The Easter Bunny’. Click Here for an mp3 of the medley.

My Ass is on Fire

This was played similar to the arrangement debuted in 1996, but cleaned up and stream lined a bit. A good addition to the tour.

None Of Them Knew They Were Robots

Played as it is on the album.

Pink Cigarette

Played similar to the album version, but with a piano intro.

Retrovertigo

Played close to the album version, but without out all the cool production.

Sweet Charity

Played just as is on the album, with a slightly different ending. Trevor sang the lower vocal parts, AND they were sampled as well.

The Air-Conditioned Nightmare

This followed the album version, with the big harmonies in the “surf” section all coming from a sampler.

Travolta

Ok. They played this almost every night. The same way as always. Always a dull point in the set list.

Vanity Fair

This could have been done well, but sadly wasn’t. All the harmonies were sampled. The only saving grace is the ending, which is a repeat of the main chords and melody, but in  a “punk” style. Click Here for an mp3 of the “punk part”.
