Today I’m going to tell you the story about mission San Jose. It’s about history. I hope you enjoy it.

They put my mission in San Jose because they found a roof on the top that said Mission San Jose de Guadalupe. That’s why they called it Mission San Jose de Guadalupe.

The Indians that lived there before were called Costanoan Indians. They worked on carpentry sewing, and making shoes.  My mission got money from the women working on making dresses, knitting, weaving, embroidering, laundering and cooking. Some strong women would grind flour on carry bricks that weighing 551 pounds. The men worked on doing jobs. That’s how my mission got their money.

Fray Fermin de Lausén, a Franciscan who lived under other missions, founded Mission San Jose.  This mission was founded in 1797. When they found thirteen other missioners had already been founded.  The church was first to be constructed and then reinforced around with an area in the middle, and there was a simple building with three windows. The ceiling was 24 feet high, four feet for the walls. In a earthquake in 1808 they decided to shorted the bell tower. The mission was rebuilt in 1809.

In the history of Mission San Jose there was an earthquake.  Today my mission was in the early the 1900’s in all that are left to the original.  It is located at 43300 Mission Blvd., Fremont, California. It’s near to the city of San Jose. It’s there because the missioners wanted to keep it father away from the city of San Jose, so the Indians would not be tempted to travel the mountains.
