| This class will have a strong focus on reading, in and out of class, and reading skills. However, reading alone can not get you the A! Your grade will be determined as follows: 33% Homework and classwork 33% Projects, including analytical essays 33% Reading quizzes & oral vocab quizzes 01% Freebie!!! 100% |
| Homework Policy: |
| HW mostly consists of out-of-class reading and RRJs (one due each week), but there is other HW occasionally. I do not allow late HW for any reason. You often have some class time and several nights (or even weeks) to complete a HW assignment, so there is no reason not to get it in. When you are absent on a day a HW assignment is due, it is your responsibility to turn in the HW on the day that you return. |
| Quizzes: |
| Quizzes take two forms, biweekly vocabulary quizzes, which are based on Vocabulary Book Boxes, and reading quizzes, which are usually based on novels we are reading in class. |
| Projects: |
| Projects will take several forms as well. Each quarter you will complete an analytical essay (based on an in-class novel), continue building your research portfolio, and complete one additional research/technology-based project; each one will count as a project grade. |
| Extra Credit: |
| I am not too fond of extra credit; if you do the work that I ask, you do not usally need extra credit. However, I do offer an occasional extra credit opportunity; take advantage of these when they arrise. |
