Grading Policy:
History courses are often thought of as "easy" courses; I can assure you that this will not be the case.  This class requires a lot of reading, writing, and THINKING.  Although it will not be easy, it will be rewarding!  Your grade in this class will be broken down as follows:

               33%  Homework and classwork
               33%  Projects
               33%  Unit tests

01% Freebie!!!
              100%
Homework Policy:
You will have HW approximately two times per week, sometimes less and rarely more.  I do not allow late HW for any reason. You often have some class time and several nights to complete a HW assignment, so there is no reason not to get it in.  When you are absent on a day a HW assignment is due, it is your responsibility to turn in the HW on the day that you return.  Because I am so strict concerning late HW, I do drop one (1) HW grade per nine-weeks; I know that sometimes missing HW is unavoidable, but this is rarely the case.
Unit Tests:
Tests, which occur at the end of each unit, consist of both multiple choice questions, in which you choose the best answer from the choices provided, and short essays, in which you must write short paragraphs to answer the questions.
Projects:
Projects may take many forms, written and visual, and are larger assignments that HW assignments.  We do far fewer projects, therefore they are worth more as well.  Some projects are completed in small groups, and others are done individually.  Much thought and care should go into projects as they are worth almost as much as tests in this class.
Extra Credit:
I am not too fond of extra credit; if you do the work that I ask, you do not usally need extra credit.  However, I do offer an occasional extra credit opportunity; take advantage of these when they arrise.  Additionally, most tests have extra credit in the form of bonus questions.
