  Belvidere Opens Season With Decisive Victory Over Hackettstown 43-24

  Seth Wisner opened the action with a first period fall over Eric Hartstien at 160 lbs.  Brent Rader followed with a hard fought decision  at 171 lbs. Rader took down Eber to start the match, Eber escaped as Rader attempted to cradle. Rader Led 5-2 as the third period began with Eber on bottom Eber switched on rader and tied the match at 5-5 Rader then reversed eber with 15 seconds left to win the match 7-5.  Freshman Brian Hedrickson was rudely welcomed to the  mat in his High School debut losing by fall to top rated 189 lber Greg Varina of Hacketstown.  Matt Lietner continued the Hackettstown comeback Pinning First year wrestler Jr. A.J Kowaleuski Giving Hackettstown thier first and only lead of the evening 12-9.  Mike Fruncillo put Belvidere back on top with a fall with 37 seconds left in the match ,until the fall it was a close match tied at 2-2 in the third, Fruncillo chose bottom and was called for a stall , Fruncillo then heeded the wakeup call and caught Sean Borlaland with a peterson then covered and collected the fall.. Adam Sadlon at 103 lbs recorded a fall in the second period leading 2-0 he reveresed Jen Benoist and outmuscled his opponent with a powerhalf for the fall. At 112 lbs. Hackettstown forfeited to freshman Andrew Beamon for his first match and his first victory. Freshman James Rader also recorded his first Varsity win but it was not as easy. Rader was taken down to start the match in a headlock and gave up three back points Rader fought back with a reverse and a takedown and was down by one 7-8 at the start of the third period. Ethan Rutner choose down and rader turned him to his back recording 3 back points and later in the period got a takedown and more backpoints winning the match 15-9.  Matt Bocchino dec. Trevor Vernon 2-1 No score in the first period Second period Vernon took bottom and escaped with 33 seconds remaining. Bocchino chose down to start the third and reversed Vernon holding on for the victory. R.J. Pursell's major dec over Tyler Tjong 12-3 sealed the victory for Belvidere. Pursell excelled on his feet lifting Tjong and down to the mat with three takedowns. Even though the match was over Hackettstown continued to wrestle strong winning the next two matches with a fall over Kyle Quick by Rory Molnar and a fall by Rob Dicks over first year wrestler Soph more Ross Hutchinson making his wrestling debut.
Joe fielding closed off the night with a 7-0 shutout over John Beyer. Fielding recorded a takedown in the 1rst a reverse in the second and an escape and takedown to end the night.
