Over the summer of 1998 I traveled to Ontario for a walleye/pike fishing trip. When I was in high school my uncle told me he would take us to Canada on a fishing trip if I ever graduated medical school. Much to his suprise I did. This trip was the payoff. (Thanks Bo.) We started the trip in Wawa, Ontario. Ontario Wilderness Vacations - Tel (705) 759 - 5001 has an air base in nearby Hawk Junction. They operate several remote cabins on area lakes that have fly-in only access. We boarded a float plane there and flew north to Ermine Lake. This picturesque, secluded lake held an excellent population of walleye and aggressivce northern pike. This was the first time we had ever been walleye fishing and we still managed to catch several times the two fish limit every day. I will have to say that walleye is the best tasting fish I have ever tried. If you get the chance, give these folks a call. The trip will be well worth your effort.
