| Chapter Thirteen: Break Out |
| �Thanks for your help, boys!� Elecmon shouted at Darren and Tim. �It�s okay, Elecmon.� Shocamon replied, smiling at him. �I was out catching some fish before you came, for the baby Digimon.� Elecmon explained. �They weren�t that hungry, and neither am I. So, do you want to share my fish?� �Yeah!� Moosemon exclaimed. �Hey, thanks Elecmon.� Tim said. Elecmon smiled a reply. |
| Two Bakemon escorted Tridemon into the interrogation room, where Dracomon was already standing next to Sam, who was being strapped into the chair by a Bakemon. Tridemon studied the key he was using; it was a long, black, rusted key. Tridemon looked at the keys carried by the Bakemon escorting him and, surely enough, he too was carrying a long, black rusted key. Tridemon put his trident behind his back and struggled more than usual, much to the surprise of the Bakemon. �No! I won�t go in the cage, no!� Tridemon shouted as loudly as he could, struggling against his captors. Of course, they overpowered him, but as he had hoped, his protests had distracted them. With exceptional aim, he fired some flames from his trident, heating the key to Sam�s chair. The ring of the key melted slightly, causing it to slip off of the Bakemon�s key ring and on the floor. However, the noise Tridemon was making drowned out the impact of the key with the floor. After that, Tridemon stopped struggling and let the Bakemon throw him in the cage, locking it. Dracomon turned to Sam after Tridemon was secure. �I must say your Digimon is the noisiest of them all.� Dracomon observed. �Dracomon, what are you gonna do with us?� Sam asked. �Your fate will be the same as Adrian and Audrey�s.� Dracomon said. �What�s happened to Adrian and Audrey?� Sam exclaimed, sitting up. �Well, right now, they�re at the bottom of a ravine, all of their bones broken, and their hearts still.� Dracomon said. �In short, I killed them.� |
| �What do we do now?� Audrey asked. �I dunno.� Adrian replied, walking back into the forest. �We should find the others.� �Yeah.� Audrey concurred. �Hey, what happened to Kerri, Khalid and Sam?� �They weren�t with us�� Onomon reminded them. �Dracomon threw that net over us.� Adrian noted. �Maybe he got the others with nets.� �At least Tim and Darren got away�� Slythamon noted. �Where are all those guys?� Audrey asked. �Tim! Darren! Sam! Khalid!� �Let�s head back to the ravine where Dracomon attacked.� Adrian suggested. �We might find something.� �Yeah.� Audrey concurred, and the two set off. |
| �No�� Sam trailed off. �You couldn�t have killed them!� �Hah!� Dracomon laughed, leaning over him. �I did, and the same fate will soon befall you. I will take personal pleasure in slitting your throat, Sam.� �You�re just trying to scare me, Dracomon�� Sam said. �Am I?� Dracomon replied, with a slight chuckle. Suddenly, Dracomon started sniffing. He smelt the distinct smell of melting metal. He stood and looked at Tridemon�s cage, and stared at it in shock; the bars of the cage had been melted apart and bent backwards, and the rookie Digimon was missing! But Dracomon got an even bigger shock when he felt three sharp points dig into the back of his leg. With a scream of pain, Dracomon fell to the floor as Tridemon withdrew his trident from Dracomon�s flesh. Tridemon then threw the key on Sam�s lap. �Trident Flame!� Tridemon shouted, attacking Dracomon with a string of flames. The enemy Digimon held up his arm to shield himself from the attack. �Sam, unlock yourself!� �Guards!� Dracomon screamed. Sam grabbed the key with his left hand and put it in his mouth. As quickly as he could, he unlocked the shackle holding his left arm in place. Using his newly free hand, he unlocked the shackles holding his other three limbs down. Just as he did this, the door flew open and two Bakemon entered, but one of them quickly left as Sam kicked him into the hallway wall. The other one received a head butt from Tridemon. Sam grabbed the keys being held by one of the Bakemon and placed them in his pocket as Dracomon stood, recovering from his leg injury. Sam picked up both Bakemon and threw them at Dracomon. �Dracomon, catch!� Sam called, and the two lackeys flew into Dracomon�s chest, knocking all three down to the interrogation room floor. Tridemon and Sam ran down the hallway. �What are you two lying about for?� Dracomon shouted to the Bakemon. �Quickly, after them!� �Yes sir!� The Bakemon replied, setting off. |
| Sam and Tridemon ran down to the dungeon and approached the cell containing Khalid and Kerri. The two approached the bars happily upon seeing the pair. �Sam, you got the keys!� Khalid exclaimed happily. Sam fumbled with the keys, trying them all, until eventually he found one that worked. He unlocked the cell door and pushed it open, letting his two friends go. Kerri and Khalid ran out and the three turned to Tridemon. �We need to free the Digimon now!� Tridemon said. �Come on, I know where their cell is!� �Hold it!� A voice called. The Digidestined looked ahead and saw two Bakemon. �Tridemon, Digivolve!� Sam shouted. �Tridemon Digivolve to�Novadramon!� �Flame Bubble!� The tall champion Digimon announced, firing a bubble of fire at the Bakemon. It hit them, and they disappeared into atoms. �Now Novadramon, lead us to Eaglemon and Slipmon!� Khalid said. Novadramon ran off with the three humans hot on his heels. |
| �Nothing here�� Audrey trailed off, looking down the ravine. Adrian looked at his Digivices radar. �There�s nobody nearby.� He informed her, looking back up at her. �Where could they have gone?� Slythamon asked. �They probably went on after they crossed the ravine.� Adrian figured. �I have an idea!� Slythamon cried. �Snake Constriction!� Slythamon fired two strings from her teeth and the wrapped themselves around the half of the rope still tied to the tree. Slythamon then tugged with a strength that seemed to defy the laws of physics, and the tree came down. Audrey smiled at Slythamon. �Hey, great idea!� Audrey said. �Thanks.� Slythamon replied, slithering along the tree. Onomon floated after her. Adrian and Audrey, however, were anxious about crossing the makeshift bridge. �This is scary�� Adrian commented, looking down. �I don�t wanna die!� �I know how you feel, bud.� Audrey replied. �Let�s hope Gatomon�s watching us.� Salamon smiled as she heard her champion�s name mentioned. She and Andrea were watching Audrey and Adrian from behind some trees. |
| The three humans and Novadramon worked their way through the labyrinth of hallways that lead to the cell of the other two Digimon. Upon reaching the cell, however, they found Dracomon and some Bakemon waiting for them. �Well, Novadramon.� Dracomon welcomed. �I�m healed now, and you have no trident. How can you possibly win?� Kerri looked back and became fearful. �Guys, look behind you�� Khalid and Sam turned and saw more Bakemon coming from behind them. �Damn!� Sam cursed. �We�re surrounded!� Khalid noted. �Slipmon Digivolve to� Hereticmon!� Khalid�s champion cried, approaching the bars of the cell. He bent them back with a mighty tug from all four hands and slipped out of the cell, with Eaglemon close behind. Hereticmon ran at Dracomon and tried to punch him, but Dracomon blocked. The Bakemon, meanwhile, attacked the kids. �Eaglemon Digivolve to�Abdulmon!� Kerri�s Digimon announced, flying at the Bakemon coming from behind them, as Novadramon wrestled with those in front. �We need to get out of here!� Kerri exclaimed. Dracomon punched Hereticmon in the stomach and then hit him with an uppercut. Khalid�s Digimon was knocked back into the Bakemon Abdulmon was fighting. Hereticmon quickly got up and ran back to Dracomon. �Mega Wing!� Abdulmon shouted, firing a red ball of energy at the Bakemon. They died, splitting into atoms, and Abdulmon helped Novadramon with the other Bakemon. Abdulmon picked the Bakemon off of Novadramon with his beak and threw them into the wall. Novadramon got up and prepared his attack. �Flame Bubble!� Novadramon cried, firing a ball of fire. �Mega Wing!� Abdulmon shouted, firing his read ball of fire at the Bakemon. They faded away as they died. �Viral Blade!� Dracomon shouted, firing viral energy from his claws. This hit Novadramon, and he became Tridemon again. Hereticmon ran at Dracomon and punched the evil Digimon into the wall. The wall collapsed and Dracomon fell out of the side of the castle. The Digidestined looked down at the moat below. How far did Dracomon fall? Suddenly, he flew up again from the moat and hit Hereticmon with an uppercut. Hereticmon skidded along the dungeon floor and transformed back into Slipmon. �Everybody, jump on!� Abdulmon shouted. Khalid and Sam picked up their respective Digimon and the three humans jumped onto Abdulmon�s back as the bird Digimon took off out of the new hole in the wall. Dracomon flew after them. �Viral Blade!� Dracomon cried, firing a set of energy at Abdulmon. The bird Digimon dodged by turning up his right wing. |
| Andrea watched from the ground as Abdulmon flew overhead, with Dracomon in hot pursuit. She looked down at Salamon. �Dracomon�s after them, Salamon!� Andrea cried. �We have to help!� Salamon nodded a reply, and the two set off following the others. |
| �Salamon Digivolve to�Gatomon!� Andrea�s Digimon shouted, climbing up the tall tree as fast as she could. �Hurry up, Gatomon!� Andrea shouted to her. �I�m climbing as fast as I can!� Gatomon replied, looking down. Meanwhile, Dracomon was getting closer to Abdulmon. The bird Digimon was flying as fast as he could, but Dracomon was faster, and the dark Digimon was coming close to grabbing Abdulmon�s tail feathers. �Lightning Claw!� Gatomon cried, jumping onto Dracomon�s back and digging her claws into him. The dark Digimon screamed and ceased his pursuit of Abdulmon. Abdulmon flew off, not aware of how close he had been to being caught, as Dracomon and Gatomon wrestled each other to the ground. Gatomon got off Dracomon and both Digimon returned to their feet to face each other down. Andrea approached Gatomon and stood behind her. �Who are you�� Dracomon asked, looking Andrea over. He saw her Digivice, and then looked at her face. �No�it can�t be�you�re one of the Digidestined?� To Andrea�s surprise, a frightened expression overcame Dracomon�s face. The evil Digimon turned and quickly flew off, leaving a very confused Andrea and Gatomon. �He was scared of you�� Gatomon trailed off, looking up at Andrea. �That�s weird�� Andrea commented. �Andi?� �Yeah?� �I�m tired�� Gatomon said, jumping into Andrea�s arms and De-Digivolving to Salamon. Andrea smiled down at her rookie Digimon. �You�ve been Digivolving too much lately, Salamon.� Andrea noted. �You need some food, and a nap.� �Yeah�� Salamon concurred, falling asleep. |
| �Thanks for the meal, Elecmon!� Shocamon called back. �No problem guys!� Elecmon shouted, waving at them. Elecmon turned as he heard footsteps from behind him. He smiled as Andrea approached him, carrying a sleeping Salamon. �Hey, Andrea!� Elecmon whispered to her. Andrea smiled at Elecmon and carefully set Salamon down on the floor. �Thanks for not telling them where I was, Elecmon.� Andrea said, kneeling down on the grass in front of him. �It�s okay�� Elecmon replied. �But, you know, you have to go back sometime.� �Why?� �You�re the Digidestined.� Elecmon said. �The Digidestined have to work together. How else can they save the Digiworld?� �We are working together.� Andrea replied. �Why do you think me and Salamon have been working so hard to help them?� �I think you�re doing too much.� Elecmon advised, looking at Salamon. �Poor thing. It�s only about midday and she�s exhausted!� �Have you got anything to eat, Elecmon?� Andrea asked. �Well, I knew Darren and Tim would eat everything, so I saved a couple of fish for you.� Elecmon informed, pulling a bag out from behind a nearby pillar. Sure enough, there was a bag, with two fish inside, both cooked and sliced. �Thanks, Elecmon.� Andrea said, smiling, as she took one of the fish and put the other in front of Salamon. The rookie Digimon immediately awoke from her slumber and begun devouring the food she had been given. �Say, Salamon�s pretty hungry.� Elecmon commented. When Salamon had finished her meal, she fell back to sleep again. �And tired.� Elecmon finished. �Yeah.� Andrea agreed, looking down at Salamon. Then she looked back at Elecmon. �Elecmon�� �Yeah?� The small Digimon replied, looking up at her. �Why was Dracomon scared of me?� �What do you mean?� Elecmon asked. He inspected her. �Did Dracomon attack you? Are you hurt?� �No, he didn�t attack me.� Andrea replied. �He was scared of me.� �Oh�� Elecmon trailed off, looking down thoughtfully. �Elecmon, do you know something?� Andrea queried, leaning towards him to emphasize the gravity of the question. �No�� Elecmon replied. It was obviously a lie. �Elecmon, tell me the truth!� Andrea shouted. Elecmon turned to her. �I know why�� �Then, why?� ��But I can�t tell you.� Elecmon finished, looking down at the ground in shame and shaking his head. �Why not?� Andrea questioned. �Because I�ve been sworn to secrecy by Azulongmon.� Elecmon informed. �Who�s Azulongmon?� �He�s the leader of the eight Digimon gods that created the Digiworld.� Elecmon informed her. �He�s the one that brought you all here. And he told me not to tell you.� �Elecmon, please!� Andrea begged. �Andrea, you don�t understand.� Elecmon said. �If I tell you, they�ll kill me!� �Dammit!� Andrea cursed, looking down at the ground. After a period of uncomfortable silence, Andrea looked up at Elecmon. �Have you found any of the other crests?� Andrea asked. Elecmon smiled and grabbed the bag that the fish were in with his mouth. He shook it and a small rectangular charm fell out. Andrea picked it up and examined it. It showed a ring in the middle connected with three more rings. The three rings joint to the centre one had a dot in their centres, whereas the one in the middle did not. Andrea scowled. The crest smelt faintly of fish. �Whose crest is this?� Andrea quizzed. �That�s Sam�s Crest of Selflessness.� Elecmon informed her. �I caught it in my fishing net this morning. At first I thought it was a pebble, and I almost threw it back! Thank the eight digi gods that I didn�t, eh?� �Yeah.� Andrea said, smiling at him. �I�ll make sure Sam gets this.� �Where is Sam?� �He�s with Kez and Khalid.� Andrea informed him. �I saw them escaping from Dracomon, on Abdulmon�s back.� �I see�� Elecmon trailed off. �I hope they got away safely.� Suddenly, the pair heard voices coming from the nearby trees. They looked at each other, then hid behind the pillars, Andrea being careful to move Salamon to their hiding place, as Audrey and Adrian emerged into Primary Village. �Oh, it�s Audrey and Adrian!� Andrea whispered. �Great!� Elecmon exclaimed. �I can do my usual entrance!� �Do you always have to do that?� Andrea whispered to him. �It kinda hurt when you jumped on my chest like that. Couldn�t you have just said hello?� �Sorry. But it�s my thing! And it shows people that I mean business!� Elecmon told her, and Andrea smiled as she recalled when she had watched him pounce on Darren. Now the two of them looked on as Adrian and Audrey approached the digi-eggs. �Wait until they pick up an egg!� Elecmon told himself. �How do you know they will?� Andrea asked. �Because everyone does!� Elecmon answered. He turned back at the two and smiled as Adrian picked up a digi-egg. �Here I go!� With these words, Elecmon ran towards Adrian and pounced on his chest. �Ah, shit!� Adrian cried, surprised. �What are you doing to my digi-eggs?� Elecmon shouted. Andrea smiled as Elecmon continued his charade. She then stood, slipped the Crest of Selflessness in her pocket, picked up Salamon and vacated Primary Village. |
