The most popular place to share mp3's and download them would probably have to be Napster.com Regardless of the hype about it being shut down..... I believe that it can still be downloaded from it's main site. Here are some more mp3 sites:

Probably the best place to find and share your mp3's with TONS of other people. I highly recommend this site regardless of all the media hype....
MP3.com This is a terrific site to find out about new bands in all types of music.
