Organ System Project
Curriculum Expectations:
Instructions:
You will be teacher for a day. In groups, you will teach the class about a
specific organ system (respiratory, circulatory, digestive, excretory,
endocrine, nervous). Use your notes from
class, the internet and books for ideas and information.
1. You will be placed in groups and assigned
an organ system.
2. Research (library books, internet,
textbook, etc) your organ system.
·
Identify
the main organs and their functions.
·
Write
a brief description of the organ system, including the overall function of that
system.
·
Find
out how that system interacts with other systems.
·
Identify
diseases of that organ system.
3. Draw a life-sized silhouette of a human
body by tracing a group member onto butcher paper. Cut out the silhouette.
4. Draw all the organs to scale, and in their
appropriate places on the silhouette.
Colour the organs.
5. Glue information cards to each organ
identifying them and explaining their function.
6. Create a short handout for your classmates
that outlines your organ system, all the important organs, and how the organ
system interacts with other systems.
7. Present your finished product to your
classmates.
