About Desecration
Desecration are
a 4 piece death metal band from Newport in Gwent, South Wales.
Their first album, Gore and Perversion, was seized on release by the Metropolitan Police in the UK, and dealt with by the "Victorian" Obscene Publications Squad.
All of the CDs, the DAT tapes and artwork films were confiscated and destroyed.
On the 1st of December 1995, Desecration were in court, and were charged with trying to "corrupt the minds of the public".
Edited demo
versions were taken in house raids; and fans have been warned and even arrested
for wearing the bands T Shirts.
Fortunately, the charges were dropped, as it would give publicity to the group.
Artic Serenades from Scotland, who were Originally from Norway, offered to take up the release of the cd and a tape that was hidden away, containing the rough mixes of all 13 songs and was sent to them.
Eventually, Gore
and Perversion was released with the original lyrics and artwork.
