The Next Yankee Hall Of Famer!
Donnie may not have the best numbers of all time but you can't ignore his accomplishments.  He is a .307 lifetime hitter and has the 2nd best fielding pct. of any first baseman (.996) with 9 Gold Gloves to back it up.  Donnie was a human vacuum in the corner and he could track a foul ball better then anyone.  Maybe he never got himself a ring, but he was the captain of the New York Yankees.  Even with their recent success and their roster of future hall of famers,  they have yet to replace him as captain 6 seasons later.  To this day his presence is felt with his influence on guys like O'niell, Williams, Pettitte, Nick Johnson,  and especially Jeter.  If there is any question as to how the Hitman would produce in the World Series, he batted over .400 in his brief stint in the play-offs.  Nobody came through like Donnie.  He was the Captain, #23 forever, and the heart and soul of the New York Yankees.  Anyone who has that, has their spot on the wall in Cooperstown already roped off in my book.  I just wish I could vote for him!
