Your People
4/10/01

Lord, in my searing indulgence to my own,
I seek to do Your will but I forget what You want me to see,
To love others as You have loved me, in this I’ve not grown,
With that care and compassion You used to set me free.

Countless times I have failed to love Your people dear,
So selfish I have been in dimming the light of filthy hate,
Renew my staleness I call a heart to a poignant passion sincere,
Heal me from an apathetic heart I do so desperately wait.

Lay upon me even a tip of mercy, a garland of grace,
In that it shall make me love without end,
Convict me to pray and encourage in seeking Your face,
Help me in breaking my heart and my knees to bend.
