Bolivia
Rurrenebaque, the Amazon Jungle, and the Pampas, Bolivia
roadblock
Rurrenebaque is a town in the northern-central area of Bolivia. We headed out from La Paz on a bus ride that was estimated to take 16 hours, instead it was 26! Here are Joris and Dennis packing a chew while we wait at a road block set up by Bolivian Coca Farmers protesting the United States' policy to kill all of the Coca Crops in the area. Some people had been there for two days, but we lucked out at were on our way after a four hour delay.
Rurrenebaque
Rurrenebaque is hot hot hot! It gets upwards of 40 degrees...damn!
Amazonbikes
Dennis, Joris, and I thought it would be sweet to get some motorcyles and explore the Amazon. We got lost...here Joris (who knows more languages than he can count on two hands...believe me, I saw him count) takes some directions from a local guy.
Actionshot
I had to add this action shot of me tearin' it up.
Jungletrek
Despite the Amazon Jungle's extreme heat, it is a must to wear long sleeves to avoid poisonous bites. Our friend Mic felt the wrath of a giant ant bite and was delerious for a couple of days (pictured in the Gilligan hat crossing the bridge).
Tarzan Matt
Tarzan Dennis
When in the jungle, make like Tarzan and swing from vines!!! Left: Me, Right: Dennis
Das Boot
Here we are preparing to embark on our journey through the Pampas on 'das boot'.
Turtle Posse
Seeing the suspicious humans coming, the turtles posse'd up and prepared for battle.
Capybaras
Pictured here are two spectacular Capybaras, the world's largest....rodents.
spidermonkey
The cute little spider monkies couldn't resist the baby bananas we were packin'.
howlermonkey
The howler monkey busts the monkey scratch we all know and love.
Deadcow
The cobra's venemous bite can kill a cow in two hours. This unlucky cow is now birdfeed.
Snakewrangler
Our guide wrangles us a cobra...great action shot, eh?
Cobratie
Dennis chats with a cobra and asks it to stop killing his friends, the wild cows.
Anaconda
Why am I laughing? Have you ever had a baby anaconda shit on your hand? I have...the smell lingers for days...blah!
Crocodile
This crocodile is the unwilling subject of our night trek. Crocs are rampant in the area. The Swiss guy is giving this one a belly rub.
Piranha Fishin'
You have to use raw steak when fishing for the carniverous fish, the Piranha. They are a salty fish. Dennis is having a fat chew and sporting his ghetto fishing rod.
Lords of the Nutrings
What are they doing you ask? We are sporting our new nutrings. They are carved from a small jungle coconut shell and polished to a black shine. This picture concludes our trip to the Amazon Jungle and the Pampas. (left to right: Mic, Dennis, Joris, Matt)
