Bolivia
Copocabana and Isla del Sol, Bolivia
Pipeband
Copocabana is the town that the Brazilians named their famous beach after. The town is on the shore of Lake Titicaca, the highest lake in the world, aswell as the biggest in South America. Here, Dennis and I sit over dinner while listening to a traditional Bolivian pipe band (see background).
The boat ride from Copocabana to the Isla del Sol (Island of the Sun) is about one hour and a half. Here, Dennis, Sessil, and I lean on a farmer's rock-gate upon our arrival to the island. Having learned about Lake Titicaca in University, I was very excited to actually be there.
I think that of all the picture-postcard photos that we took on our trip, this is my favourite. There is something surreal about it.
Joris and Matt
After blazing our own trail over the Isla del Sol, we ended up at the peak of the island. Joris (sup Bro!) and I could not be prouder of ourselves in this picture.
Ruins
The trip to the top was worth it, look what we found!
Inca stairs
This Incan staircase appears on the south end of the Isla del Sol. I cannot remember why, but we ended up walking down them, then back up them, and then down them again.
Church
Back on the mainland, this is the famous church in Copocabana. This is where a statue of the Virgin Mary started crying tears of blood...chilling. It also made world news recently becuase the Priest will bless anything you have, including your car. If you have ever seen the state of a typical Bolivian car, you would see the need to have it blessed by the Lord.
