~Weekend Update with
Seadog~
Cast: Seadog as himself
Hodgepodge as Mr.
Popular
Seadog:
Good evening, I’m Seadog. Here are tonight’s top stories:
At the New York City Toy
Fair, Ty arrived to sign Decade bears two hours later than scheduled and signed
100 instead of 150. It’s just his way of saying, “Expect the unexpected because
I expect less.”
After the trade shows,
the signed Decade bears have been selling on eBay from ranges of $510-$3,200.
When all the signed Decades are gone, the secondary market values will go down
into The Twilight Zone.
Leah Dorfman, the woman
who received the 1/100 Ty signed Decade, put it up for auction, was removed,
and then reposted by eBay. The popular auction site mistakenly removed it
because they thought it showed too much pen. Cover up, people!
New products unveiled at the fair include Frisco the gray cat, Nutty the squirrel, Mother the Mother’s Day bear, and Zeus the moose. Have I told you lately they’re duplicates?
Posts on Ty Talk state wonders of why the April 2003 Birthday Bear did not appear. Maybe it did, but Ty made it go poof!
Early this week, Ty also released a new St. Patrick’s Day e-Beanie called Luck-E. This Beanie resembles Winnie the Pooh in his movie “Pooh’s Great Gay Pride March”.
To launch the Designs of the Times charity auction, model Lisa B modeled dresses including one made of Clubby V Beanie Babies. This will strike Ty to release the “Beanie T-Shirts” line.
The Grammys are
tomorrow, and the Oscars are coming in a month, but what about the world of
Beanie Babies? Who’s the best? Here now with a look at this is entertainment
correspondent Mr. Popular.
Mr. Popular:
Thank you, Seadog! My people! Thank you!
Seadog:
So, Mr. Popular, who is the biggest Beanie Baby out there right now?
Mr. Popular:
That Groom Beanie Baby is popular. He got the Info Beanie babes voting him up,
the Bride chick feeling his vibe. That is an awesome Beanie Baby. Also, that
Color Me Bunny. You get to color the Beanie Baby Bunny and make it into your
own little creation. You could make her into a princess, a doctor, or even a
dragon. Um, that Luck-E bear, the one that just came out. People think it’s
hard being green, but it’s not. And that Hodgepodge the dog. He’s one crazy
dog. People love him for that. Doesn’t he look stunning?
Seadog:
Like I’d know that.
Mr. Popular:
Let’s see who else… Snocap the fox. People dig the white fur. They’re all about
the fur. Sly must be jealous.
Seadog:
Sly is our host tonight, and he’s been going on and on about Snocap.
Mr. Popular:
Humph. People, don’t you think Snocap should host?
Seadog:
Don’t embarrass me.
Mr. Popular:
I’m not. I’m Mr. Popular. I just told you the biggest names in Beanies right
now.
Seadog:
That wasn’t a very funny commentary.
Mr. Popular:
My mommy wouldn’t say that.
Seadog:
Mr. Popular, everybody!
In today’s Info Beanie
diary, Bride stated how happy she is to have had met the Teenie Beanie Boppers
and let them sleep with Michael Jackson. Please… it’s a joke.
Our fiends at Chubbley
have unveiled new items this week: Mission Chunky, Creamy, St. Clements in
orange and yellow, and the reintroduction of Toots. If you see any of these,
call 911, or even better, call 1-800-BNIESRL. That’s 1-800-Beanies Rule.
The Chicago Sun-Times
reports a new Beanie Baby called Dusty will be given away at a Cubs game on May
4 in honor of the Cubs’ new manager, Dusty Baker. Let’s hope less people throw
it in the garbage than they did with the George Steinbrenner bear.
Pompey Sport has made
Pompey Beanie Babies available for order again, although recipients may
complain when the tag reads “Birthday: Sorry, we can’t take your order. Please
try again later.”
On the MTV series “True
Life” a Cooper Attic Treasure appeared in a scene with a baby sent to be
adopted, also named Cooper. While from the show we know Baby Cooper is happy
with his adopted parents, we know Cooper the Attic is doing fine with his adopted
Hallmark retailer.
The Ty 2003 catalog is
sold out. Those who wanted it will have to wait until it comes back as a
version 2.0 with special features like “Order this Beanie and you get to order
another one at the same price!”
And finally tonight, we mourn and pray for the 96 people who died at the Rhode Island nightclub after a pyrotechnics display Thursday night; Jesica Santillan, the Mexican girl who survived a botched heart-lung transplant and died of brain damage; and the people who were in the Toys R Us store in Maryland when the roof collapsed. They will be in my thoughts. That’s the news. Good night and have a pleasant tomorrow.
