How to Do Laundry
(This
is for the lazy college kids who bring clothes back from school cause Mommy never
taught them to do it)
If
you think realistically most people should do their laundry about ever two
weeks. This varies from person to person but let’s just say
this is the average. For some peculiar reason college kids often, like to not
do their laundry till exams are finished so they bring it home so their mama
can go wash it for them. Honestly do you really think this is a healthy way of
living I mean you probably stink and you don’t make you’re mama proud so listen
and I suggest you start to pay attention!
When learning to
wash your clothes one should master the art of collecting every
piece clothing. You begin to sort it. First you sort it into the “color”
pile “white” pile and the “light”. This is very important because it will not
stain any white clothes. White clothes usually consists of basic t-shirts,
white socks and undies, sheets, pillowcases, and all
the other plain white clothing or linens that you own. Light would be anything
from pastels to striped or patterned white garments anything really that is
white with some design or writing really. Finally we have Color. Color would consist
of Dark socks, dark underwear, and shirts, along with jeans and dark-colored
pants. The whole separating and sorting
process will protect the color of the clothes as well as the durability. I you
happen to mix darks and lights, the damage done cannot be eliminated in the next
wash. So maybe that favorite white t-shirt of yours was mixed accidentally with
the blue sweatshirt
which is now, some form of light blue for life.
If you ever do get confused on where you should put
a garment I would strongly suggest to look at the labels inside they can
usually help you out. One more tip always check the
pockets for anything you may have left in a sweater or jean pocket. I don’t
think you would like knowing you had 20 bucks and washed it or that nice piece
of Juicy Fruit.
After you have sorted everything. Head
down to the public laundry mat or your own washing machine (if available).
Be careful not to take anyone’s clothes
out of the machine or disturbing anyone else laundry experiences because that
is just rude. Begin with turning the water on and start loading the clothes
into the machine. Many people have the problem of either adding too much
detergent or loading up the washer too much. I would suggest to fill the washer
about one quarter of the way full and for the detergent read what the bottle
says since it varies for each type of detergent just add what the box tells
you. The washing part is usually the nicest part because you know you are
halfway done. Hooray!
Drying
like washing is not rocket science. First of all prepare the dryer and make
sure that no one left anything in there like washing it is rude to take over
someone else’s machine. Then look for the little lint box. Take out all the
lint so that the clothes will dry nicely. After put in the
fabric softener. I would suggest the snuggy
ones because those smell the best. Start loading the dryer with the heavier
garments. Like jeans, towels etc. These garments usually take longer to dry so
you should dry them together. Try not to overload it because it will either be
more expensive or more time consuming so, save yourself.
After you have done all of the above leave the clothes in for a good 30 minutes
and when you come back it should be done. Lastly, after you’re clothes has
dried you can neatly fold it away in you’re draws or hang it. You did it see. I
knew you weren’t as lazy as you may seem.
Don’t you feel accomplished after
completing a load of laundry and stowing it away neatly in your closets and
drawers? Not only will you feel good, make you’re mama proud but after
finishing this timely, yet simple task, but your self-esteem and confidence is
heightened with clean clothes. And now, there will be no danger of smelling
musty.
