Genesis

                      As stated in the Bible “God made heaven and Earth”, not only was it said once, but twice. My belief in God accepts this quotation. In my religion the Evolution that I choose to believe is that God made Adam and Eve and that is how things have come to be. What came before Adam and Eve is a mystery to me and many other who practice the same faith. However Catholicism has deeply influenced me through my life. Religion and Evolution have not had an equal influence on me because I see religion as something that I have faith in and something that I use as a fact and it is my faith that views religion more then evolution. Evolution to me is a bunch of theories but religion is a form of giving an answer and making me feel secure about what I believe in and I sometimes accept as true that this is the reason why religions were made up so that we can believe in a god and in something.

Christianity in my family has always been a controversy, this being because half of my family is Roman Catholic and the other an unknown form to me of Christianity. In my family Christianity, has always confused me for the reason that many of my family members have different opinions and viewpoints because of the fact that we do not practice the same type of Christianity. My mother being one of the only people in her family who practices the Catholic Religion. This becomes a spiritual challenge for me because I see things differently as a result of my mom’s emphasis on her beliefs and those of the family. Many of the things that make me wonder is the way that some of my cousins are subject not to celebrate certain holidays like Halloween and Easter. Many of them are not permitted to dress a certain way. Another example is how we believe in Saints and Angels while the rest of my family does not. These different viewpoints have made me feel differently about God. To me, god is a teacher but his teachings have confused me as I have been taught his word. People these days do not know how to treat the universe. The Environment has been mistreated by the human beings who live on its planet. Capitalism has led human beings indirectly to this crisis. I think that Capitalism leads to overproduction or over consumption and exploitation of people and our living environment.

It is Ironic to see people preach the word of the lord, but not follow it. Preaching and practicing should give people and idea of God’s rules and to treat the earth right and its life forms right. I believe that this is the way it is intended to be. In Genesis one can infer that God gave man free will. It is clear that free will was given as a gift because he gave man choice. Man chooses to disobey God when he mistreats the Earth, as Adam and Eve proved when they mistreated the fruit that was given to them. Overtime

Society has had a big influence on this because society influences bad behavior, not directly, but indirectly. The Evil that lives within many human beings is natural, but some people are evil or have evil tendencies because of greed. Greed makes people have evil tendencies and makes people react differently in certain situations. Envy produces evil within people. For example some countries become imperialistic and demonstrate to others their evil behavior. If people took the time to sit down and rationalize their Acts many problems in our world wouldn’t happen. Rational qualities of a person could be that they practice their faith and follow the rules follow what is said to them. Regardless of what religion a person may be. Irrational behavior is that of a person who does not think and this can also be impulsive behavior. Impulsive behavior is what forces many to not care and to not care about others and the world around them.

Since I practice Catholicism, Medieval Literature truly appeals to me because it was strongly influenced by religion and one of the religions was Catholicism. One of the writer that I recognized was Chaucer was because he challenged the catholic religion and he questioned it just like me and this makes me more curious into wanting to know about this time period and its literature. Another time period would be the Age of Realism because to me it seems that it is a time when people were not expected to act a certain way they were depicted just as they were and not a co modification of another person.
