Welcome to Mark's place on the web for travel

I like to travel when I can which is not that often. This page will be my thoughts on places I have been and places I would like to see. The first place that I seem to go to every year is Reno. I am not a big gambler but I like to go and see whats new. There is a lot of things to do in the Reno area. This is the biggest little city in the world. We all know they have hotel casinos but they also have many other attractions. The
national automobile museum is located here and if you love cars it is a must see. The cost is $9.00 and well worth it. The cars date back to the early 1900s.

They also have a water park in Sparks called
Wild Island. This is fun for the whole family. There is nothing better on a hot day then to spend it at a water park in the cool water.

An hour away from Reno is the beautiful Lake Tahoe. The water here is so clear and blue. The air is fresh and some of the best ski resorts around. If you like to ski Lake Tahoe is a must stop for you. Were else can you ski all day and then eat in some of the finest restaurants around and then spend a few hours in the casinos. Lake Tahoe is also home to the
Ponderosa Ranch. For you that grew up watching Bonanza on TV or the reruns of this show you must stop and visit the ranch. It is not open during the winter.

My last vacation in February 2007 I went down to Las Vegas and then to Laughlin. I had never been to Laughlin and had a good time. Amazingly I didnt do that much gambling. While we were in Las Vegas we ran around and checked out all the casinos which took a lot of time. I really think you could spend a whole week there just seeing the different casinos and sights. We went down town to see the Freemont Experience. If you have never seen it you really should. They show a light show on a canopy that covers 2 blocks. We also went out to the Rio and saw their carnival in the sky show. We went to Treasure Island and saw the Sirens of TI. The show was good but I like the old show they had several years back but it is still worth seeing. Another must stop is the fountains at the Bellagio. This is such a wonderful show set to music. When the fountains are going it will actually cool off the temperature by several degrees. There is also the Volcano at the mirage that erupts. This is best seen at night. If you like roller coasters the one at New York New York is the one you want. You also get a good view of the strip but you have to look fast. The Las Vegas strip is something to see.

Laughlin was more casual and a slower pace. The casinos are smaller. The one I like the best here is the Colorado Belle. It looks like an old river boat and that makes it classic.  There is also a lot to see there too. We drove down to Lake Havasu and saw the London Bridge, we even drove over it. The bridge was bought by the city and took apart. They shipped it over to the city were it was put back together brick by brick.
